giggsyson
evening all it would appear my key fob is broken and the buttons do not lock / unlock the car. I have to lock and unlock the car using the key in the door method but the alarm goes berserk when i open the door. I have looked on ebay for additional key fobs / blank keys andI was wondering if anyone has done this and if so do you have any recommendations? or if there are any places i can go to? Or is this a nissan job? I am based in the north east.. cheers
Lexx
Have you tried replacing the battery and then reprogramming the key?
Easty
Take it apart and just hold the control bored with the battery and press the buttons to see if it's that that's dead :-)
giggsyson
yeah i replaced the battery i didnt think the key would need reprogramming as it knocks off the alarm etc? im no expert tbh i iwll take it apart later and try that cheers lads
Easty
That way it will tell you if you need a new bored or if the pegs on the back of the buttons on the key are worn or not connecting properly. If that's the case just pack it out with something :-)

KyleR
yeah i replaced the battery i didnt think the key would need reprogramming as it knocks off the alarm etc? im no expert tbh i iwll take it apart later and try that cheers lads It sets the alarm off because you're opening the car without deactivating it by using the key rather than button, it turns it off when you place it in the ignition because the transponder doesn't require power, similar to how security tags in shops work. If the battery has been stone dead or removed for too long, you'll need to recode it to open the car with the buttons, google how too, there's plenty of info
giggsyson
Cheers kyle - appreciate the advice. I will have a look tonight. I only picked the car up on saturday! My z is also my weekend car and i look forward to some sidewards action (in a safe place of course) - if i can get it out of my driveway that is !
