giggsyson Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 evening all it would appear my key fob is broken and the buttons do not lock / unlock the car. I have to lock and unlock the car using the key in the door method but the alarm goes berserk when i open the door. I have looked on ebay for additional key fobs / blank keys andI was wondering if anyone has done this and if so do you have any recommendations? or if there are any places i can go to? Or is this a nissan job? I am based in the north east.. cheers Quote

Easty Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 That way it will tell you if you need a new bored or if the pegs on the back of the buttons on the key are worn or not connecting properly. If that's the case just pack it out with something :-) 1 Quote

KyleR Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 yeah i replaced the battery i didnt think the key would need reprogramming as it knocks off the alarm etc? im no expert tbh i iwll take it apart later and try that cheers lads It sets the alarm off because you're opening the car without deactivating it by using the key rather than button, it turns it off when you place it in the ignition because the transponder doesn't require power, similar to how security tags in shops work. If the battery has been stone dead or removed for too long, you'll need to recode it to open the car with the buttons, google how too, there's plenty of info Quote
