Ekona
Time, more than anything. I will miss not doing it myself, but these days I'd rather drive it than faff around fitting stuff. Must be getting old, I reckon.
Ekona
Right, car is back with me now and the brakes are... better. Not perfect, but they're better. Apparently they're just full of air, and given that I've bled them multiple times, the local Jag specialist has bled them multiple times, and now my local Pork specialist has bled them multiple times, then that's a lot of air! Never had this issue before across multiple '2s, so it's a bit weird. PSR Automotive have done a great job in getting them better, and also giving it a go for me when they're snowed under with work on proper cars. Hopefully the brakes will get fixed for sure when the car goes to Rogue tomorrow, as they're MR2 specialists.

I'm not trying to tell you how to suck eggs because I'm certain you know more about these cars than I do; but have you bled them with the engine running? I did calipers, hoses and new fluid on mine and despite many attempts, the only way I got them fully bled and nice firm pedal was with the engine running. Ekona
Yup, Rogue are doing the lot. No mapping though, but the tune I'm pinching is a very safe one for a 1ZZ. All bled with engine on, very odd. That is, until today when Patrick pointed out the leak between master cylinder and booster when I dropped the car off Ah well, easy fix and they can sort that for me too. Very strange, but at least an easy fix. Bet your looking forward to taking it out!
Ekona
You ain't kidding, been nearly ten years since I last owned a mk3 turbo, it'll be like reliving my youth all over again!

Meeerrrk
Did you make the track day in a turbo roadster?!
Ekona
Nah, had to take the 911 instead sadly. In the end it worked out okay, but I've still got Donny booked for October so fingers crossed it's ready for then
Meeerrrk
When will it be ready? Problems? I'm doing Cadwell park in October, Goodwood later this month
Ekona
Just a few mapping issues to get sorted now, hopefully pick the car up this weekend to bring back down south and then get it sorted. Let me know what Cadwell is like, still haven't been there yet.
Meeerrrk
Good stuff! Yeah, always fancied it myself, should suit the roadster. Would you be Interested in a roll bar like this I'm having one made and seeing if people are interested
Ekona
Ooooooh nice! In theory yes, however it would need to fit under the hardtop (no soft top in mine, remember) and I wouldn't need the catch.
Meeerrrk
I'm the same, I removed soft top and only run hardtop. Mines costing £350, so that would be the maximum I guess. If he got lots of sales it may be cheaper, I'll talk to him about it
Ekona
Not too bad, although cash flow atm means that I may not be able to go for it in the immediate future.
Meeerrrk
No worries I'll let you know what happens. My car isn't going to him untill end of September / start of October so it will be toward end of year anyway
Ekona
Do Rogue not do one already? Actually, I could inquire tomorrow when I'm up there.
Meeerrrk
Can you please ask them? I don't want a full race cage. Thanks!

Meeerrrk
Got the car back Dan? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Ekona
Oops, forgot to update! I got the car back last Saturday, however it doesn't go to the mappers until Wednesday. It was a really painful drive back, having to stay off boost, but every now and then I let the turbo spin up a fraction to hear that glorious noise Should be a hoot, can't wait for this week to be over. The car is also much quieter now too, which is an added bonus. I'm going to add a Lexan screen to the back of the hardtop as well, to reduce that huge weight sitting above the car, cost is only £200 + fitting. I asked them about the cage, and they can do a half cage based on their full one but with the front bars removed. Patrick said he's never been asked for one, but could find the cost if needed. I suspect it wouldn't be any cheaper than your one though, so probably not worth the bother. That said, the full cage isn't that intrusive really, so maybe worth looking at? Suits
Cool, what sort of options are there for ECU's in these ?? I had a AEM EMS system in my S2000 and even though my Honda was NA the options and usability of it was brilliant.
Ekona
It's got a Unichip at the moment, which is what I'll be using for now. I would've liked to add something like a Link for that, however at a cost of around £1500 it would be a trifle OTT on such a cheap car. Depending on how I find the Unichip map, I may still go that route long term. A'Pexi used to do a Power FC for the 1ZZ, but that's long since discontinued. Nowadays it's just a case of picking any generic ECU and modifying it to work.
Suits
Unless you're into data logging and the like, or handy with adjusting your own stuff (not me) I don't see the problem with running fix or modified OEM ECU's. I only went AEM as one came up cheap so I pounced, as that was very OTT for what I needed.
