BulletMagnet
How about this for a starting point? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-157-OE&groupid=43&catid=2512&subcat=2513
evilscorp
Nice one bulletmagnet! looks exactly what I am after. Since its my birthday..... I think I might drink/drunk buy this later. Shame Competition clutch has just put a tempting offer up... this might be an expensive night/few days.
evilscorp
Later.... I should have said now only thing that was missing was the wifi but I can just hook it up with a cable for now. So I now have Intel Core i5 4670K overclocked to 4.2GHz, MSI Z87-G43 Motherboard, 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 RAM, Akasa Nero 3 V2 CPU Cooler (didnt want it overclocked or a new cooler but for the price it was a no brain'er ) Just need the R9-280 a corsair 750W or 600W PSU and a tower. Nearly lag free.

Flex
Can someone explain in simple terms what overclocking is, is it like an uprev for the CPU?
BulletMagnet
It's like nitrous, but constantly. I have a humble i5-2500K, which I have overclocked from its standard speed of 2.5Ghz to 3.3Ghz. It increases speed basically so it can crunch numbers faster equalling better performance. Some motherboards are better suited than others and heat output will increase, so make sure your CPU cooler is up to the job.
Flex
Do you risk frying your CPU though?
BulletMagnet
Not if you have enough cooling in place, I myself have my CPU watercooled. There are safe limits for overclocks. Like previously mentioned, some CPUs lend themselves better for overclocking, some dont
Flex
I wont risk it on my laptop then. Cheers BM x
BulletMagnet
Yeah, wouldn't try that on a laptop, don't even know if it's possible given the tight space within or if the motherboards even have those options. My laptop is like six years old and is showing its age (Dell XPS M1710 Gaming Laptop)
KUGT4
for reference - running sweet with the following... - ULTRA setting @ 2560x1600 - TITAN 6GB graphics card connected to 30" Apple display - i7 2600k @ 4.7GHz (hyperthreading on) - 32GB RAM think the 6GB TITAN buffer really helps out here esp when AA on iirc the program swallows around 1.7GB program memory Edited November 9, 2013 by KUGT4

OP needs a full rig Edited November 9, 2013 by BulletMagnet
