ninjaz
Hi guys I have an alpine headunit, audiobahn rear speakers, stock front speakers, sub and amp. So I turned my volume up a little higher than usual the other day. Up to about 10-12 with busters rca jobby! And the audio just cut out, only playing a very loud buzz( it seems mainly from the left front). The screen still works and is showing the cd is playing and it's the same with radio too. It only stops when I turn the system off but comes back as soon as I turn it on! Iv taken a look behind and all the wiring seems fine. Maybe something to do with the amp? Or the actual headunit itself? Wish I just stuck with the stock bose now! 😔 Any ideas will be much appreciated, cheers Ricky

This "mod" that you and others have done is simply firing speaker level(high) ouputs into an amp designed to take line level(low).
ninjaz
Thanks for the reply inspiral , I had a feeling it might of been this, which is something I don't need right now! The soundtrack of the z will have to do for now í ½í¸„

I did mention this a while back, proper RCA boosters are the safe option but cost about £20 for each pair of speakers, splicing the RCAs boosts the volume but be careful

ninjaz
So what would be my options now? Iv got a spare amp at home but I understand the wiring would have to be changed as well?
Ekona
Really, you're at the stage where you might as well strip out the stock gear and replace with aftermarket. At least that way it will suit your needs better.

glrnet
I'm afraid SMD's in depth audio review is spot on
ninjaz
Hahaha thanks Dave. It's just fitting it that's the problem at the moment as I'm not sure if I can tackle this! Going to have to do a bit more research first. Iv literally just spent a lot on her already so paying someone to do it is out of the question í ½í¸

Best way is seats out, all trim out then away you go, honestly not THAT much work... I used to take my seats out just to hoover the interior

ninjaz
It's more of the wiring side I'm worried about Dave! I just checked my amp and it's a mono amp, which won't do right? The door and rear speakers do run off the bose amp aswell as the sub right? So I'm going to have to get another amp and all the necessary wiring for a proper job... ninjaz
Ok so after a little more research I think I am going to just replace the bose speaker amp with another one for now. Funds are limiting my options right now. So if anyone has one they need to get rid of then let me know. Cheers Ricky
Hooch
First time i'v ever used that smiley, does this mean i'm now an integral part of the forum
Ekona
Yes and no. Yes in terms of trying to do the right thing, but no because Zmanalex no longer trades and he wasn't a specialist in audio stuff anyway We should probably get that smiley removed.
