Scootg
Hi guys, I'm getting a bit tired of the Tape Deck Connection I have into my BOSE Post-Facelift ICE System. So I'm looking for a new head unit, which I hope will be better. It seems that some tell me they will cause my steering wheel controls will stop working, and some say they can't provide a double din screen, and others say they can't provide a post-facelift facia. There always seems to be something. Does anyone have any recommendations on which to look into, or has anyone a double din that is working with steering wheel controls? I'd like to be able to stream via Bluetooth so I don't have all the wires hanging around but the whole thing seems like a minefield.. Help? Thanks, Scott. Grundy
Elo Bud, http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/ This is a site I've used in the past for all my car audio features. I'd recommend Pioneer, always used them in every car I've owned. I currently have a http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_991017_langId_-1_categoryId_265857 This is hooked up to the steering wheel (Bar the answer call button) and there is a Ipod lead that comes out of the compartment behind the Handbreak. I may possibly have this headunit up for sale soon, however not sure if it's compatible with the steering wheel, no reason why not. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pioneer-Double-Din-Dvd-Iphone-Bluetooth-parrot-/141096447584
GMballistic
My Pioneer double din works fine with the steering wheel controls. I'd recommend a Pioneer like grundy225 mentioned or a Kenwood double din head unit.
Stutopia
My pioneer avh-x2500bt double din fits in nicely my 2004, and works, with an adapter, with the steering controls. I can't say I've tried to use the steering controls for anything other than volume and track skip/back though. Have a look here it's got the detail you're after. http://incartec.co.uk/Manufacturer/Model/Brand/Device/Radio/Browser.aspx
EvansJD2112
I have the Pioneer X3500DAB All works fine with the steering controls using the Incartec kit. The phone controls now do other functions. one cycles between inputs (DAB/FM/iPod) the other one varies. In DAB mode it cycles between groups of stored stations Pioneer all the way for me
Scootg
Wow, thanks all for the advice. I've been discussing with Halfords and they tell me they can't sell me an adapter that'll make my steering wheel controls work with any head unit because it's a BOSE system. But Car Audio Centre seem to have no such concerns. Strange. Pioneer look good, I think it'll be one of their systems. I just have to decide if I go for a head unit.. Or a carbon fibre interior! Maybe both and cancel Christmas..
