s1xtyn1n3
I've had enough of the crappy Bose system in my GT... The CD player is useless and my Galaxy S4 wont pair and stay paired with the damn thing so I'm looking at alternatives. One option so far is the Sony XAV-63 - http://www.sony.co.uk/product/ica-in-car-multimedia/xav-63 Important things to me: * I want to keep ALL the steering wheel controls - stereo & phone * I don't want to be messing about with speakers so would like it to be able to work with the standard speakers and sub. Are these things even possible with this (or any stereo) and if so, what adapters would I need to get? Thanks in advance
delz0r
I have recently installed the XAV-601BT, it's pretty good value. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-XAV601BT-Multimedia-Head-Unit/dp/B0081NETYG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1382520532&sr=8-1&keywords=sony+xav-601bt I retained all the steering wheel controls apart from the phone answer button. It's connected to the standard Bose system. You will need the adapters from:http://incartec.co.uk There's a pic of it installed in my build thread: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/73692-dels-ultra-yellow-gt4-350z-build-thread/
Grundy
http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk Is a good place to look. Every car i've owned, i've had a pioneer headunit, may be worth having a look into. As above steering controls work apart from the phone button. s1xtyn1n3
Thanks for the info. I wonder what it is about the answer button that means it doesn't work.... It's not a deal breaker, it would be a little annoying, but i'm sure i'd learn to live with it.

You just tap a big green button on the screen when you get a call. I don't think it'd bother you at all.
sam350z2013
I've installed the Sony xav601-bt stereo too. But only thing that disappoints is the mirror link function don't work with iPhones, so can't use apple apps on it.
GMballistic
I've got a Pioneer AVH-4400BT double din 7" touch screen in my Zed. Works with standard Bose speakers, steering wheel controls, I phones, Ipods, plays CD's/DVD's etc. Great unit ~ probably not available anymore but similar ones today from Pioneer/Kenwood etc will set you back maybe £400-£600 but worth it imo. mx5 Paul
I have a similar issue, my Bose works only with the radio on, when I put in a CD only the right speakers work. Im been trying to look at a head unit, but Im totally lost. I want to retain the steering wheel controls. But I know Jack when it comes to car stero's. All I really need is a good quality unit that sounds great, rather than a load of features that I won't use, God I sound old!! Looking to spend about £200 on a unit, that seem fair? Is it a difficult job to fit these modern units?? How much would I expect to pay for this to be done? Thanks Paul Edited October 28, 2013 by mx5 Paul
