evilscorp
I can confirm the standard pulley has a 2mm thick rubber ring inside it to act as dampening. If you need photos I will upload them later.
Arran
Do the ams ones have this rubber ring?

Daryl
Cant say iv had any issues with mine, and i must have done 15k atleast on them.
evilscorp
Me either, but the oem flywheel is dual mass so will act as dampening also I believe.

Arran
Ive got a competition clutch single mass lightweight flywheel to go in, if the standard pulley is damped I probably wont get the ams ones if they are not, dont want to risk it

I'm sure z1 uses one on their n/a build.
Mark@Abbey m/s
Stock pulley has some dampening. Yes it does upset engine balance removing the stock front pulley. We Have taken DEs apart that had lightweight crank pulley and have seen noticeably more wear than engine that have stock pulley. It's a big V6 with no timing belt to absorb valve train harmonics. If anything they should be getting proper dampers not no damper.

AliveBoy
That's got as much dampening as a woman reading 50 shades!

KyleR
So, now someone needs to get a list of aftermarket lightened pulleys that are dampened
evilscorp
Fluidampr and ati are the only two dampened ones I know and I think they are both oversized/not much lighter. (ati may do an oem size but not looked into it.) Expect to pay $300+ for just that one pulley. Edited October 25, 2013 by evilscorp
Lexx
Since this is asking opinions on AMS products.......please do a lot of research on their products before you commit to buying them. They are well known in the Z32 scene for selling defective, or half arsed badly made parts. Many of them are poor copies of other peoples items. Daryl
Im sure the traders on here know what they are selling, and wouldnt sell parts that are substandard.

Arran
Im sure they do know what theyre selling and for the most part they sell great products however after digging in and finding alot of information on AMS I am no longer willing to put these or any lightweight pullies on my car. I understand people havent had any issues but its not a risk I will take. I like to fit the best parts I possibly can on my cars and its a shame I won't fit these but its not worth the potential problems down the line and a few bhp. I find it does pay to dig deep and research a product no matter how small
