Nero_slk
Hello guys, Had a viewing on my car today... guy was well happy... agreed on a deal.. we are supposed to meet up tomorrow for the final exchange and guess what.. he did the HPi - and the thing that he is worried about the car is red on there... It is RED on V5 logbook too, but when i bought it ,im aware that some shades are classed as different colors (my evolution was a coupe on log book...) What should I do? I dont have a explanation for this, maybe someone could help me out.. Cheers

KyleR
Clearly some idiot has been in charge of registering it. For his peace of mind, let him check the vin numbers in all the various places to see they match, then maybe pop a bit of trim off to show him it hasn't had a colour change respray. Nero_slk
Vin matches on v5 and the car under the windscreen... Whole engine baybis orange lol and under the carpet in the boot... I think he doesnt want it anymore..... The worst last minute deal cancel I ever had,and a really stupid reason... Thats what he said... I can understand that everything matches up, but I just can't take the chance, so sorry to mess you about!
Ekona
His loss. Might be worth contacting the DVLA to get it changed over. Sometimes they can be quite helpful, I had no issues getting the MX5 re-registered as a Eunos, for example.

KyleR
Glad it worked out Annoying it's down to someone in Nissan to register these thing correctly, but working for Nissan means they should know the colour is orange and not red, especially when one of the stock colours was red. Same with the model, i've heard of V5's that read "350Z Rays" because it came with Ray alloys or one guy in my down with a Chilli red and factory Nismo kit reads "350Z Nismo" when clearly it isn't a Nismo 350Z as I believe the only 350Z Nismo was actually the 380RS. Ricey
There are loads of Sunset with Red as the colour - Carla's is the same. Technically they're not Orange - they're Bronze.......bronze isn't a colour and so they default to the main colours I think.

However to sit in and cruise it is a really nice place to be as far as interior goes
Jetpilot
currently on the top of the list is a RX7 From much experience stick to an un molested twin turbo, if you buy anything else you will have MAHOOSIVE problems selling it and probably end up breaking it down for spares, singles are just not selling and knowing your frequent change history i am sure you wont want a car that doesnt sell quick. Make sure you also have documentation of recent rebuild and very recent (like within a week or two) compression readings and good history, also make sure this all ties up with the car you are buying. Also make sure these compression readings and rebuild have been carried out by a well respected specialist. Re-Worx, Hayward Rotary, Rx Motors, Powergains, WGT, Dragon Performance. Plenty of info on fduk or mazdarotaryclub Edited October 9, 2013 by Jetpilot

hensh65
my gunmetal grey is down on the logbook as silver As someone mentioned they only use basic colours on the log book so I would imagine you are more than fine
rabbitstew
With regards to the colours, you can simply change this by filling in the colour change part on the V5 logbook and send it off. If the new owner is worried that it says red and would prefer it to say orange, he can just change it when the logbook is sent off. Any colour changes are recorded, and future HPI checks will say "colour changed from red to orange on this date" etc.. Ive done it myself a few times without any problems. As for model name changes, ive never tried but I always assumed they were not allowed as someone could simply change the model of their car to something more valuable, so change 350z to 350z GT4 or something like that? Nero_slk
I found out that 50/50 is registered as red and orange...as its neither. .... He said hes coming to get it today I only have 1 rx7 on the radar....went to view it nearly 2 weeks ago, and its owned by a little old lady for the past 14years...had rebuild 60k miles ago.. and she wants 5k... I made her a offer of 3k as knowing rotary engines it will need a rebuild sooner than later , and there was some mayo on oil cap (no on coolant cap) think its just condensation from not driving it enough as she shares a brand new focus with her husband now... So if she says yes to 3k..ill get it today..and bite the bullet and do compression test later to see if I need to rebuild or is it fine... otherwise I dont think ill get the rx7 , as when ill get bored of it, it will take months to sell Fn2 wise-I had most of the hondas you can think of, and driven the fn2... my driving style is not so aggressive, and it wont be used on the track, so im fine with understeer... the interior is the thing I love about it...feels so modern, comfy, and never stops impressing with gadgets ( was like :O when I seen the a/c setup on passanger door handle ) Might consider a TT auto supra or a blobeye STi, or e90 330 coupe, or e46 M3 But thanks for all the tips and feed back, really appreciate that

You just need the correct paperwork to back up whatever it is you want to change, Mazda UK were really helpful with me in my situation.

Rebuild @ £2000+ depending what you need, if you need rotors or housings expect that to jump to £3k+ Also another caution, if its been stood or not driven regularly, petrol has a habit of sitting on and deteriorating water seals, rebuild time again Edited October 9, 2013 by Jetpilot
