davedutch
Are there any handling improvements ( or disadvantages) with fitting spacers or are they fitted purely for the cosmetic benefit and from what I've read would I be right in limiting them to 20mm to avoid rubbing the arches. This pesky zeditis is going to drain my bank account over the coming few months i just know it, it starts small and creeps up all innocent like. marzman
Purely cosmetic - the zed looks much better when the arches are filled properly rather than the standard 'tucked in' look.
Ewan27
I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will offer technical advice. I think they are cosmetic, but also let you fit different alloy/tyre combinations. If you put up what version you have, your tyre sizes and alloys then others can advise on your options. MITZ@CougarStore
Dave, before and after shots can be seen here - http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/30916-woahspaced-out-man/#entry If you have the standard wheels or the RAYS then we'd suggest the 20/25mm combo that we offer... davedutch
Cougar, do you ever sleep? ( really need to know your name!) Many thanks for the pics, are these stock items and are they as easy as they appear to fit? For someone with limited tools and no good place to work. aidan
If you can change a wheel, you can fit spacers. Simples!!
Ewan27
As above, if you have access to a car jack and a lug wrench then you're sorted.
davedutch
Cheers guys, It's been too many years since I worked on my own car, I thought it looked simple but just thought it worth a check.
Dicky
I fitted them after spinning the car one day going around a slow bend on a wet road. After fitting my cornering confidence has risen dramatically. They definitely make a big differance IMO. They look good on the car as well. One of my best mods! HollowPoint
Technical difference all depends on the wheels and tyres you're using with them. Fitting spacers pushes your wheels out further, which in theory, makes the distribution of weight different, probably lowers your center of gravity a little, but also can make you more likely to tram line in ruts caused by trucks etc. Essentially, if you want to fit them, fit them, but my personal recommendation would be don't go over 20mm, because extending the distance between your wheels by more than 4cm is kinda silly, unless you've planned it and actually done the science behind why you want them that far apart. As for not going over 20mm so you don't rub your arches, that will all depend on the offset of the wheel and width of tyre you're using, it won't be the same from Z to Z unless those two factors are identical. ATTAK Z
They also increase unsprung weight ... bad !
hensh65
I just fitted my spacers and my confidence in the car has more than halved. Going to get my wheeles aligned which will hopefully sort the issue.
davedutch
Thanks guys, having attended the Cosford meet and seen so many zeds with spacers its clear the car looks better, but also now thinking my rims look pants anyway so may change them first. Scootg
So, if I may - spacers are generally able to help handling? I've just put my Z through a 4-Wheel alignment, would that need to happen again after spacer fitment?
