glrnet
Well that's surprising! If this is genuine, I'm highly impressed! Call me gullible, but it looks genuine. I'll be very interested to see how this develops. Just checked the IP address, it is The AA

chubbster
Let's hope you get more than an apology - 'sorry' costs nothing and sometimes doesn't mean much either, when large companies are involved. Money, on the other hand..... ...and I reckon HollowPoint should start a separate thread of his own, then maybe our welcomed new member will start to take an interest in the outrageous lack of car HE appears to have received at the hands of the AA. twobears
Thanks Graham I actually ended up speaking to the AA in the end. My complaint has been logged and I am waiting to hear back from them. Initially they tried to blame Land Rover Assist but the mistake was definitely with the AA as Land Rover didn't get notified until many hours had elapsed and that is what I am actually complaining about. To expect someone to wait in a broken down vehicle overnight is downright ridiculous and, if the conversation with the AA was taped, I have concrete proof that I did not choose that option but quite clearly stated that I needed a tow truck (since they had already told me that they had no tyres to fit an Evoque) and did not want to wait for Land Rover to attend. twobears
chubbster, free AA cover for Mr Zedley once he gets back on the road after his 'relaxing holiday' would be a good apology as far as I am concerned (providing that the AA's service improves)
scottyp
Good luck left the AA a couple years ago - couldn't organise a filing cabinet drawer, let alone a recovery. Twice the morons let me down, once by not being able to find me and giving up - despite being parked outside a school and providing the street name and postcode. Then claimed I didn't have recovery - had to leave the car overnight and get a friend to drive 30 miles to pick me up at 10pm (broke down at 4:30pm). Finally the next day they realised I did have cover and towed it back. Second time cambelt snapped taking out the engine - which I explained on the phone, so they sent a small van with no towing ability (to the wrong town originally!) then he tried for 15 mins to fix it.... After which another hour passed and they sent a local tow truck - explained on the first call that the car was lowered so needed a low loader. Did I get one? er no. Country hick they sent asked if I wanted towing or not. I'd given up the will to live at this point and he proceeded to winch the car on the back, ripping the front bumper off on the way.. In comparison the RAC have been great, polite and have gone the extra mile to get things done (dropping girlfriend off at different location on the way, phoning around local tyre companies for replacement tyres, etc...) I'd forgotten my pent up frustration with the 4th comedy service until I saw this post! (breathes into paper bag..)
M13KYF
This video was taken by my wife, after I'd already been speaking to the AA guy on the end of the phone for a good ten minutes and getting nowhere. She started filming because she thought I was gunna blow. Considering the circumstances (Explained in the video), I think I held my cool quite well.......until I didn't. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ujijf4xc1s amazing how you kept your cool for so long. I would of blown days before
WhackyWill
My AA experience is not so good either. Driving up M1 head gasket goes on my car, steam everywhere, call AA (I had relay) tell them head gasket has gone and to send a relay truck. What turns up a man in a van after about hour and a half starts the car, and tells me head gasket gone and I need a relay truck..AHHH !. 2 hours later a relay truck turns up, picks up my car and another car, then drops off the other car first tells me he has to got to the depot in Pinner and change shift as he over his hours, I first called them at 10.30am on the motorway just outside Luton its now 8.30pm and I'm stuck in Pinner, so I get a cab from Pinner to home and they will take the car to my place of work as its was my Company car, I get home at 10.00pm so 12 hours to get from outside Luton on M1 to home in north London I then get a call from the AA Control centre at 12.30am to say the AA relay truck with my car on has been involved in an accident at Marble Arch and my car has been badly damaged...IT WAS WRITTEN OFF..!!! M13KYF
I took my daughter shopping in Hull for her birthday presents this morning and we had a great time. Daughter got lots of clothes, we had lunch and then went back to the car. Came down the ramp and realised that I had a very flat tyre but had no choice to keep going, obviously. Parked on a pavement immediately outside car park and surveyed the damage (Evoque not Zedley who is now having a well-earned rest after being SORNED) which was pretty dire as I had driven over a sort of chunky metal pin which must have been somewhere on the car park floor, dropped presumably by another car park user, and the tyre was hanging off the rim. No spare tyre and the white goo stuff simply ran out of the massive holes in the tyre when I tried that so I phoned the AA. This is when the 'fun' started. I explained the situation in very clear English, or so I thought, but the woman on the other end of the phone was obviously hard of understanding and/or in possession of an IQ in single figures because she asked me if I wanted someone to come out or if I wanted to wait for a Land Rover specialist who could get to me tomorrow mid morning I explained once again that my daughter and I were basically stranded in a back street of Hull (not the nicest place in the country) and that we hoped not to be there after dark because it would be pretty scary and we also have a lot of poultry at home waiting to be put away before the fox arrives for his evening meal. I honestly thought I had got the message through to Miss Air for Brains but after waiting until 5.30 p.m. as requested and no-one turning up I rang back only to be told that she had decided I would be better waiting for a Land Rover specialist to come out to me the following morning We finally arrived back in a tow truck at 9 p.m. after I explained in even more basic English that I was pretty hacked off with the service I had 'received' so far. Are all recovery services this bad or was I just unlucky? I am preparing my complaint now but I expect it will just get chucked in a big bin at the AA offices reserved especially for that purpose If I wanted to recruit staff that had less brains than my stupidest guinea pig, I honestly wouldn't know where to start. Maybe there's a Job Centre for lobotomised job seekers and that's where they all come from? I also had a run in with a traffic warden who told me I was partially blocking the last few inches of a cycle lane that was painted on the pavement. Er, really, how dreadful of me Hello, this is something that we would like to address. Please email the details to chat@theaa.com including your full name, membership number and address with Reference FOR52684. Kind Regards, The AA If you are genuine why don't to respond to Hollow points posts in this section. I would also like you to contact me to prove that your are who you say you are or you will be banned from the forum

HaydnH
Mike, I reckon they're legit to be honest: Ooooh Googling "chat@theaa.com" actually gives lots of similar posts on various sites with different reference numbers, I think this may be genuine! Or it's the most persistent and professional internet troll I've seen... https://www.google.c...=chat@theaa.com However I'd make sure they pay their member trader fees. I would of blown days before In fairness, days before I was busy trying to enjoy my honeymoon in Cologne and had forced myself (With some help from some fine German Beer and some schnapps) to forget about the fact our car was stuck in Belgium and we were driving a Citroen Berlingo (I stuck it in the multi-story in Cologne for 5 days and forgot about it tbh).
