Also a bit around the hole the hub goes through You can if you want - the idea being it stops them rusting together etc... but in my experience ive never bothered and have not had any problems with discs rusting onto hubs, even after 80k miles. The copper grease on the back of the brake pads can help stop squealing but if i remember rightly when I changed the pads on my zed the originals already had anti-squeal shims which I just transferred to the new ferrodo pads.
