EvansJD2112
So, bought a couple of LED bulbs to replace the interior ones as a 'quick' upgrade. Popped out this morning, removed the cover and replaced the bulbs. couple of mins max. Now, neither the interior lights nor the mirror lights work. OK, must have blown a fuse I thought.. Popped off the fuse cover, located what I thought was the right one, took it out and it looked fine. Turned on the ignition and the radio/satnav didnt come on. Weird.. Popped the fuse back in and radio comes on again. So, is the diagram on the back of the fuse box cover completely wrong? Where is the fuse for the interior/mirror lights? I have a copy of the maintenance manuals, and the fuse block looks right in this diagram Just doesnt say what each one does! Much appreciate any help. EvansJD2112
The fuse I thought it was was fuse number 6 btw
KyleR
Maybe it's not a fuse and that other thing that can blow that I can never remember the name of and can be costly to fix? Hopefully someone will be along shortly to advise you better than I can

Hopefully someone will be along shortly to advise you better than I can BCM. but I doubt its that seeing as they don't work at all. Normally a busted lights section in the BCM just kills the auto on-off dome lights facility. Secret fuse box by the battery perhaps?
KyleR
That's the one!
EvansJD2112
Just got to the fuse box behind the battery (great location!) Nothing obvious from what I can make out on the diagram Anyone got a list of what all the fuses actually link to? BTW, noticed the boot light is out too, so all interior lights Defo sounds like a fuse to me....
Beavis
Have you tried putting the replacement led lamps in the other way round? Have you tried putting the old lamps back in to confirm that the fuse has blown? I assume they were working beforehand?
EvansJD2112
Located the fuse, its No18 in the box by the accelerator Replaced it and the left hand side LED worked for a second, and then pop; fuse gone again. Put the old bulbs back in, and another fuse, and I have a working left hand side map light but the right hand one isnt. (swapped bulbs around to confirm this) Left hand one works as it should, either by switch or by the door. Any idea why the right hand one is dead? @Beavis - maybe me being stupid here, LED lamps have a wrong/right way of installing?
Beavis
Yes most have a right and wrong way of installing. Polarity matters with led's. https://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/blog/42/led-bulbs/comment-page-1/ http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=1257733&d=12306.55256&nmt=
EvansJD2112
Doh Not going to risk another blown fuse by trying again!
Hooch
Make sure your not using LED bulbs with the heat shield on the rear as it will short and blow a track on your BCM, this will then have to have a wire soldered on to sort it. EvansJD2112
I tried these http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/269-led-smd-mega-bright-festoon-bulb-30mm-white.html So, likelihood is a short Question now, how do I get the right hand map light working again? Hooch
That I cannot answer, strange its just the right one. Might be worth looking at your BCM board to see if its caused any damage. A few things here might be worth trying: http://my350z.com/forum/maintenance-and-repair/463735-bcm.html
EvansJD2112
Looking at the interior light wiring diagram Both lights take the same feed, so doubt its anything to do with the BCM Suspect I've knackered something in the light itself
EvansJD2112
On the way to work this morning, the right hand side map light came on after about 10mins driving. Stayed on for about 2-3 seconds and then died again! I have no idea what this could be From the wiring diagram, if one light works the other should do to
EvansJD2112
Mystery solved. Obvious when I think about it logically. This is the culprit The actual switch is dead Swap them around and the right hand side works fine. Now, need to find where to buy a replacement Any ideas? EvansJD2112
Managed to get hold of a replacement unit off eBay and ordered some proper bulbs to go in it. So, anyone else who is daft enough to do the same; I'll have a spare switch!

Insert a small screwdriver into the surround of the map light unit. There are 4 clips, 2 on each side. The unit then just pops out and is connected via the usual 350z plug type. The switches themselves just push on/pull off.
EvansJD2112
replacement bulbs and light unit arrived, so took a few snaps replacing the switch Easing out the unit The connecting wire clip Working LED lights :-)
Hooch
To change the bulbs the whole unit doesn't need to come out, just the clear plastic covers

Needed to replace that, which needs the unit removed to get to the back.
