CK@Chris Knott Insurance
There's really good news for many of the members we've previously had to turn down - we've kept on the case with insurers and have been able to negotiate a relaxation of the age & experience criteria for the club scheme. These are the changes from the old requirements where we had them on certain models: OLD RULES - 25+ with 12 months' experience of the car or one of similar performance. NEW RULES - 25+ with 6 months' experience. OLD RULES - 25+ with 24 months' experience or 30+ if only 12 months' experience. NEW RULES - 25+ with 12 months' experience. OLD RULES - 30+ with 12 months' experience. NEW RULES - 28+ with 12 months' experience. There's still some way to go but it's good that we at least have these concessions. Remember to include us in the mix when looking around for quotes. We're still signing up 40% of quotes offered - there won't be many in the industry that can say that. Av8er
Thanks for that Av8er! Sorry, I tried to insure with both you, sky, sureterm, greenlight... All the specialist guys, you're all the same. I can uderstand why, but surely there is a flat rated scheme for risks that are actually disirable? Cheers
rabbitstew
Thanks for that Av8er! Sorry, I tried to insure with both you, sky, sureterm, greenlight... All the specialist guys, you're all the same. I can uderstand why, but surely there is a flat rated scheme for risks that are actually disirable? Cheers I had similar problems when i first got my zed, the companies mentioned above all wanted me to have had recent experience of similar cars. Whilst id driven dozens of fast cars in the past, had 20 years ncb on my car and 15 years ncb on high powered sports motorbikes (was riding a 150bhp R1 at the time), because id been driving a diesel golf for the last 2 years they felt i was not experienced enough in handling a car like a zed and therefore was a high risk. I think the cheapest estimate I got from the "specialist insurers" was £1200. I ended up going with a non specialist insurer who came in at £900 for the same cover. I realise insurance companies have to reduce their risk by ensuring someone who is used to driving a 30bhp FWD Ford Fiesta doesnt jump into a 300bhp RWD zed and crash it on the first bend, but in my case with my many years of accident free motoring in both sports cars & sports motorbikes I felt that I should have been a safe risk. jell36
No way of knowing which group you fall in to: OLD RULES - 25+ with 12 months' experience of the car or one of similar performance. "NEW RULES - 25+ with 6 months' experience." - What's the point you may as well stick with your current provider for 6 more onths instead of paying early terminatiuon fees and losing a years no claims. I'll stick with Sky

No-one's suggesting you jump early but you may have bought the car part way through the insurance year. Hope that clarifies it.

No-one's suggesting you jump early but you may have bought the car part way through the insurance year. Hope that clarifies it. I've changed car mid way through a policy a couple of times. In 2009 went from a 1998 1.8 A4 which failed its MOT on multiple things to a lovely 54 plate 350z. I just called up the insurers and paid the extra, I only had the car for 7 months before my policy needed to be renewed.
Av8er
Remember to include us in the mix when looking around for quotes. We're still signing up 40% of quotes offered - there won't be many in the industry that can say that. Also if I could just pick you up on this comment; I assume that the 40% write up rate you have quoted is the generic WUR for the whole of the new business quotations across the company, hopefully for your sake this is excluding the retained business. However, it is all good and well quoting statistics, but are they actually specific to the marque in question ie. members of 350Z-UK. What we need to know, is how many quotes you are writing up from the forum enquiries provided from here, including decline quotes due to your restrictions. You may well be writing up 8 quotes for Mr Bloggs on his £2500 Ford Focus with modified alloys, exhaust and air filter, yet the 12 high performance car enthusiasts, which is the category the members here fall into, that approach you for a quote aren't provided with a competitive policy price/cover. Once those statistics are ascertained, you can then provide forum members with an unbiased picture towards the benefits of approaching you for a quotation. Cheers. CK@Chris Knott Insurance
Retained business is 80% and yes, the stats are across all the forums we work with. With over 200 forums on board I'm not able to produce individual messages reflecting each's individual stats as that would take an age. I'm commenting on the success of our car club scheme as a whole given the mix of makes and models.
CK@Chris Knott Insurance
For your club car you will fit into the 'about 28 with a year's experience' bracket instead of what used to be 30. For the other cars in your household who knows until we know what the car is
Av8er
For your club car you will fit into the 'about 28 with a year's experience' bracket instead of what used to be 30. I've got a feeling that you will have just lost a chunk of enquiries from the forum due to the amount of young owners around here! I'm 20 and I insured mine with modifications declared without any hassle!
CK@Chris Knott Insurance
We won't have lost anyone - this is not a new restriction - it's always been there. We relaxed it so MORE members will be able to benefit than before.
