Steel Lynx
In case anyone's interested, I dug this up online for the Nurburgring. Base fee for attendance of armco truck: €150 Removing damaged armco: €10/metre (x2 or x3 or x4 for multiple-height sections) Replacement armco: €31/metre (x2 or x3 for double/triple height) Removing damaged armco posts: €5.10 each Replacing armco post: €39 each Safety car attendance: €82 per 30 mins (car + 2 people) Circuit closure: €1,350 per hour Recovery truck: €190 (inc VAT) Hospital stay & air ambulance: Let's just say, do NOT go there without travel insurance! (Though a European Health Card - which replaced the E111 - may cover the hospital bit.) Everything except the recovery truck is then subject to 19% VAT.
RDON
and that's why no one will buy it and eventually it will get closed!!!!!!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr no common sense these days.....
StevoD
Dont think that would have warranted a safety car and looks like he luckily just tapped the end of that outset barrier,
WhackyWill
Your best bet is to hire their Suzuki cars and take out their insurance. Those Suzuki's are quick if driven properly. More than enough for the average Club driver.
delz0r
It must be so devastating crashing your pride and joy, then having to pay a load of cash to the ring.
Wendy
Agree with the Suzuki's - I took one out last year - All Race prepared - I think fairly priced too. Great fun !! I too thinkin the scheme of things he got off lightly too, although yes of course if it were your car, of course you would be mortified. There is talk of Bernie buying the Ring - don't know what stage that is at now though.
NeilMH
Agree that it could have turned out a lot worse.

Imagine if you'd crashed, wiped out a say 5 metre section of armco, then your car caught fire on the track itself. The cost of re-tarmacking a section along with the closure of the track and the barriers and everything else... I guess I can see why so many companies won't do Nurburgring track insurance!
