marmitethecat
Hey all, when i bought my 07 plate Z i only got one key! so found a good used one on ebay with a blank key (alls good i thought) phoned my local nissan dealer and asked how much to code my key? £35 they said so i was happy and booked it in. turned up , soon the mechanic came through and said he couldn't do it, as his nissan system wouldn't talk to the transponder bit around the ignition barrel! now he's saying i need a whole new system !!! can anyone help or shed some light on this? KyleR
Personally i'd bring it to a good locksmith and see what they have to say about it, just incase they're just trying to get some more out of you. AFAIK, a good locksmith can also clone your new key to be the exact same as the old one, meaning the car will think it's the original you're using.
