The sanding took me many hours, in the region of most of series two of The Man In The High Castle (you could save loads of time by just roughing the surface and keeping the mottled effect). The paint job was £120 including disassembly/reassembly of the cubby and door and button mechanism, which is a PITA. I went matt because my paint man recommended it.
