Ekona
Sorry, the cats are blocked and you're still driving it? Please tell me I've read that wrong.
Jp606
Mine has a sort of burning smell when the car is warming up and I give it a little beans.
nowhereboy
Mine definitely has a mechanical sort of oil/petrol kinda smell when giving it some beans.
OsakaBen
I had this too. Make sure your dipstick is in all the way. Solved for me
GT Driver
Mine has a slight burning smell when giving it a hoot. After a bit of slow town driving, then hitting the dual carriageway at full blast you get the smell. It's not a continuous smell after every hard acceleration. Normally just the first one after tame driving.
ddcboyle
Dont really boot the car much so maybe thats wh y? Just flushing out or something. Ill check the dipstick Left cat has warning light but im just waiting for cats from tarmac
Sam Mcgoo
To be fair, Cat warning light could be nothing to worry about.... ......but if you suspect a blocked CAT I would not be driving the car let alone 'booting it'. If hot gasses cannot exit the engine freely it will end badly!
Ekona
My thinking exactly. Worse possible thing you can do is drive it!
ddcboyle
Ah didnt know it was that big a deal. Guess the car will be sitting in my carpark til I get new cats come on tarmac
Ekona
Remember the scene in Beverly Hills Cop, with the bananas in the exhaust pipe? Veeeeeeery bad.
HaydnH
After driving over a few Swiss passes I pulled in to a Cafe for a quick break... one of the older ladies walked over to me and said my car smells, I hope she was being literal rather than giving me a childish insult. georgerobertfreeman
I recently had mine serviced. Prior to the service everytime I booted it I got an oily/ rubbery smell for a few seconds afterwards. I also had a set of new rear tyres fitted so my oily smell was cured by either one of the above.
