IDH
Hi I have developed a crunch! If I accelerate hard, changing 5th to 6th, I am getting a gear crunch. If I just drive "sensibly" its fine. Anyone heard of anything similar and what may be the solution? Cheers Ian
stubzie83
I had this as well at about 42k miles. I ended up getting a reconditioned gearbox put in at abbey motorsport when my clutch was due for a change. Been absolutely fine since
spursmaddave
I had this at 75k, had a gearbox oil change with molyslip added and was good for close to another 40k mine also made a really bad vibration noise at certain revs in 5th too... ATTAK Z
It's quite common - I lived with it without problems
Pnthrblkzs
It's common i believe and worse when cold.
cs2000
Yep, sadly all to common. I just change from 5-6 slower than usual, wait for the RPM to drop a little. After all, if your hooning it in 5th and heading for 6th you're already doing somewhere 100+ Edited July 30, 2013 by cs2000
IDH
Thanks guys. I will work on the "all too common" rather than new gearbox! 100+? Me? Never! Planning on selling her on and was worried about it. Ian
spursmaddave
I must admit i never used 6th until doing 70-80 on the motorway... Definitely get some molyslip added first if that doesn't help then could be something a little more complicated/expensive unfortunately... wackosr
Same on mine, just need to wait a split second longer before changing. Not really a problem at lower speeds. After two years of ownership it hasn't got any worse, that I've noticed or caused any issues. Also added some Molyslip on last service a month ago, has helped a little. peteman35
Mines completely dead i have to let the revs drop all the way before changing
Deklan
Mine did it, Mines a 2006. Turned out to be the synchromesh, result was a rebuild. Grand total 2K from a stealer.... Was meant to be a warrenty job, but they revoked it after the work was done

Was meant to be a warrenty job, but they revoked it after the work was done And you settled for that?!? I would've taken the car back from them and told them to go through the court if they wanted me to pay as they agreed prior to the work that it would be on warranty! Deklan
Took them though small claims and financial ombudsman, they faulted because of modifications. May i add not to the gearbox though
