KyleR
19" Rota's are about 0.5-1.0kg heavier than OEM standard 18's. Weights are taken with tyres, half worn on OEM, new on Rota's, so the Rota's (on they're own) are probably a bit lighter considering the extra 3mm of tread on the tyre and the extra width of the rubber. Rota's are just styling wheels, nothing lightweight about them. If you want 19" lightweight you're talking near £2k plus rubber. Ray's are by far and away the cheapest way to get into lightweight rims, but that's not what you're looking, you're after OEM looking 19's, something i've never looked for because they are fugly compared to GTR's, Grids etc etc
ddcboyle
Ah right thanks for info lightweight wheels make much of a difference in handling? Enough to part with my standard 18s? 18 rays do look smaller than 18 standard, not sure if spacers will make them seem bigger when out of the wheel arch? KyleR
Rays do look smaller because of the lip, which is why most of us go 19's when we upgrade, darker coloured alloys also look smaller than lighter ones. No experience of using lightweight wheels, but the steering is slightly heavier at higher speeds with my current 245/35/19 fronts compared to the standard 18 sizes, not a bad thing. StevoD
Yea using a true forged lightweight wheel like the lmgt4 makes it feel a different car when pushing on
370Ad
My 19" Grids are 0.9kg heavier than the Rays. So yes heavier but not as much as people think. The tyres are a lot heavier in 19" format too so I imagine that's where most of it came from.

When driving on track the car feels so much more agile and you can defo have more fun

Rotas are far from lightweight. Try Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2, OZ Superleggeras, Desmond Regamasters are among the lightest you can get. BulletMagnet
In my own opinion, I'd only be looking at lightweight wheels AFTER - considering that the Zed is to become a track car only - have stripped out everything from the interior that is not needed For a daily driver I don't believe that fitting lightweight wheels will make that much of a difference. But that's just my opinion though

Just giving the op some options of very similar weight 18" wheels if he doesnt like Rays.

Unless the op is a trackwhore then he's best just getting a set of wheels he thinks look nice and by a reputable manufacturer. He currently runs oem 18's and not rays so pretty much most wheels will be lighter. Oh and he wants 19's Edited July 20, 2013 by Neilp
