Air Con re gas.... DIY?

Never used it, but I do know that I once met a guy at a wedding who trained mechanics in the safety of using AC equipment and he was like never ever use them, as the gas in AC systems if it goes wrong will replace the gas in your lungs and your fecked if that happens...game over man game over.,... although that was a few years ago so its probably safe now.

I would recommend an a/c specialist as the system may have moisture in it and need vac'd out.

What neo-ninja is talking about is asphyxiation. Very unlikely that this would happen tbh.

If the system has moisture in it, it will knacker the compressor.

It's needs pressure tested, vacuum'd out and then recharged with the correct weight of refrigerant. Overcharging and undercharging can both be fatal to the system.

I'm implying these techniques from working on buildings so if any a/c auto guys wanna correct me then feel free as this may be different for cars.

I've used the EZ kits before. So long as your not stupid, it's perfectly safe but the EZ kits never seem to fill the system properly and you get better air con performance if you get a garage to do it properly as they removes all the moisture too. Also there isn't much of a cost difference as the trigger is quite pricy for the EZ kit although it can be reused mulitple times.

What a coincidence, I was thinking this on my very muggy drive to work this morning.

My air-con just does nothing in terms of temps, just blows out air as though its not even on so I figure it needs a re-gas and was thinking about these DIY kits, il just go to a garage and have their air-con service done :)

Autofit on Britannia road have AC re-gas facilities
