Big Tav
Hi guys, new member here from Australia. I had a 350z 2004 Convertible in Australia. It wasn't the track model so so Brembos but had a JWT Popcharger, Fujitsubo exhaust, plenum spacer, big audio install. I loved it! I need to buy another car soon as I am going to hand my company car back. I have a few questions about the models though and which might be the best option for me. I know basically there is the 280is hp car. The 300 Rev Up and the 313. I do remember driving the 313 GT in Australia for a quick spin and it was definite step up! Of course the answer is always to buy on condition and service history etc but do you think I should: 1. Buy an 04-05 car and try and get a bargain like 5-7k and get the cheaper road tax? More likely to find a slightly modded one as well? 2. Pay a bit more for a 300 Rev up to get the facelift and extra HP? Big Road Tax though 3. Guy a 05 GT4 to get the newer engine but cheaper road tax? (If that's right) Like Miss Sunshines? 4. Go the whole hog and buy a 313 GT with Nav etc since I am already paying the bigger tax. Was there a lot of other upgrades to this car? Where is the sweet spot for buying a 350Z? What seems to be the most popular in case my circumstances change and need to move it on?I don't care if it's a Coupe or a Convertible (as I loved mine) but would probably side towards a Coupe in our lovely Scottish climate! I don't really want to buy an Import as UK cars seem easy enough to find. I had to get a new roof and the gearbox rebuilt on my 350Z but it was all under warranty thank God! $5,000 bill it was going to be! I look forward to hearing from you all soon! Don't let me buy a Fully worked 3.2 Mk1 Audi that I have found if this is a better move!

tc350z
Welcome to the forum! It all depends on your personal preference and cash flow really IMO, I've got a DE purely for the the tax band and cost to buy at the time.
Big Tav
I can afford either model if I want to but no point paying 12k if the 300 for 7k is much better buy for example. What do you guys think?
stewboot
i went for GT4 route, seems the best compromise between power and road tax! also being limited edition you would hope it would hold a slightly higher resale value...just gotta pick mine up..after i selll my lexus

KyleR
Option 2 and 4 are well worth the extra tax. I have an 04 but the money I've spent making it look like an 06 far outweighs the difference in tax for the next 5 years. Personally if I had the money, I'd be searching for a good 07+ HR. best looks with the facelift bumper, front and rear lights and bulge bonnet. Best interior with better plastics and nicer looking door cards with the padded section by the arm rest. Best engine with the most power, dual intakes look awesome capable of over 500bhp if you ever choose to boost it.

Big Tav
Is the GT4 worth paying a premium just to get the lower tax and being a limited edition? I don't know much about them in the UK but we had some come in to Australia. I thought the GT4 was a 05 car that had the Revup 300hp motor in it when the others were 276 is that correct? They also came in yellow or black and had Nismo spoiler and rims. Is that correct? There was a bit of a issue in Australia at the time with the GT4 owners were p*ssed that the 300 Revup engine that they got went into the standard car in 06. Is that right here in the UK too? IS the GT4 worth paying more (I think they are listed between 9-£10,500 on PH) or am I better off with a later model facelift or put an extra 2k and get a 313? I mean it would be hard to justify an 05 car if it was similar to an 07-08.
Ebized
Is the GT4 worth paying a premium just to get the lower tax and being a limited edition? IMO the limited edition outweighs any road tax consideration, but with the GT4 you get the best of both worlds. I don't know much about them in the UK but we had some come in to Australia. choptop
Having owned a Mk1 Roadster and the Mk3 Coupe, I would say the 313 is the one to go for. It is worth the extra road tax in my opinion (however wrong paying £470 a year is!)
Yampiedog
If tax isn't an issue then go for the 313 I only had an 04 for the tax reasons and purchase price / my budget at the time and I am already paying high tax on the Jeep, didn't want to fork out nearly 1k to tax two cars. Big Tav
I found a really nice GT4 (but in London) for £9,500 with some nice mods. 19's, JWT and exhaust etc. Is that a good price?

Ekona
Extra VED is peanuts in the grand scheme of things, it's only an extra pint of beer a week or three tanks of fuel over a year. GT4 still has the worse interior, I cannot fathom why the market rates it so highly unless you love the yellow. Which I do, but I still don't want the naff interior! Revup for me as a minimum, 313 is an absolute no-brainer if you can stretch to it. Even better, a 313 with no sat-nav as it's not very good, just fit your own system afterwards
