Powered aerial?

I installed an Appradio 2 in my 350z and despite trying various aerials I can't seem to get a decent signal. I am beginning to wonder if the original Bose provide any sort of boost to the aerial? Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong?

I know the 350 has a powered amplifier for the aerial. I have a similar problem but havent yet taken the radio out to check if i have the wire connected or not!

Thanks for the reply.

Powered amplifier was the the correct term I was looking for. I can't see where I've missed a connection either, I wonder if the Bose unit has its own?

Just in case anyone else has this problem, here is a photo of the wire that powers the antenna. Once I connected this up to a 12v power source (I spliced it into the blue an white wire that turns the amplifier on), my signal massively improved and I can now get every station I want.
