glrnet
Could be fuel regulator:- http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/68483-engine-ticking/page__hl__%2Bticking+%2Bfuel+%2Bregulator There are two, the one shown in this link and another at the rear of the engine behind the throttle body, there is a Nissan TSB out for it but I can't find it just now. ZMANALEX
Patch, In reply to your original question. To adjust the valve clearances you have to replace the cam shaft buckets which come in various thicknesses. If the ticking noise is due to excessive valve clearances then you would be best to remove the cam covers and inspect the lobes of the cams. I find that to replace the cams or buckets you are best to remove the engine as it is a real pain to do insitu. Alex.
Patch
Whats a rough guide price for the job if it's worst case scenario? Cams/buckets? http://static.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid192.photobucket.com/albums/z215/Patch27/20130506_153240_zpscc5345b9.mp4
ZMANALEX
Depends what you find, however worst case scenario would be a replacement engine. However I have low mileage preowned cams and buckets in stock if required. Alex
S1 HNK
I guess you need to find out if the ticking is likely to cause any further damage. If not then spanking £2k may not be worth it. They aren't the quietest of engines anyway.
