CK@Chris Knott Insurance
Yes, you read it right - our 3-year GAP Cover really does cost just £82.34 for vehicles valued under £15,000 and even vehicles valued at £50,000 can be covered for only £151.08. Don't take the dealer's product until you've checked out Chris Knott GAP Insurance. Two levels of cover You can either buy our Combination GAP cover within the first 90 days of ownership to guarantee the invoice or finance value (whichever is greater) in the event of a total write-off or, at anytime thereafter, our Valuation GAP cover which freezes your car's current value for the next 3 years (subject to an 8 year old/80,000 mile limit at inception). Ask us for a stand alone quote or combine the cover with your car insurance - simply call 0800 917 2274 or 01424 200477 and follow the 'car insurance' options to find out just how affordable Chris Knott GAP Cover is. TomS
Gap insurance worth getting on a second hand car or only if there's a high depreciation expected?
Vlad
Does it matter if car been modified or not?
4RE Leather
I checked the small print soon after I got 3 years Gap insurance. Mine does not touch modified cars so you really need to make sure. So pi**ed off at them as i told them I was going down the F1 route.
CK@Chris Knott Insurance
Does it matter if car been modified or not? It doesn't matter that the car has been modified on the Combination GAP as your invoice price will reflect the modifications present at the time of purchase. However, if going for the Valuation GAP the Glass's Guide valuation that is taken at inception will obviously only be based on the standard car. The fact that the car is modified will not affect your ability to take the cover though. I checked the small print soon after I got 3 years Gap insurance. We'd have told you that the mods are not included in the initial valuation.

Basically as soon as I modded the car this insurance became worthless. Glad to see yours is a better option Edited June 12, 2013 by 4RE Leather

TomS
Sorry to repeat myself but Gap insurance worth getting on a second hand car or only if there's a high depreciation expected?
CK@Chris Knott Insurance
Sorry TomS, I mis-read your post as I didn't see the 'or'. Thought it was a statement. The depreciation will be vastly greater than the GAP premium until you get down to a very low residual value but I'm not meaning to be rude when I say that it's up to you to decide whether you want to spend £83 to potentially save a grand when it gets low. Hope that helps.

CK@Chris Knott Insurance
If you're thinking of buying a new MY63 registration car in September and you're considering GAP cover, remember that the dealer's version is often extremely over-priced. The premium is based on the invoice or finance amount of the car but we have heard of cases where the dealer wanted £399 or more for 3 years' cover whereas our price for this same cover is just £112.68. Check out Chris Knott GAP Cover before you go to the dealership so you know what your options are. There are details of our Combination GAP Cover here - GAP Cover for new cars.
