Yampiedog
Well, gt the clutch done today and found out she needed a new flywheel too. I was gutted I had to find £600 for clutch after only having the car a few weeks but then then with the flywheel it has cost me £1000 I'm convinced the seller knew the clutch was going when he sold me the car but 'buyer beware' as the law states probably means I don't have a leg to stand on so to speak. I have kept the old parts just in case I can take legal action. I just don't feel that in the hundred or so miles of me driving it has resulted in the clutch going and the flywheel. On the plus side I'm hoping for 30,000 to 40,000 miles out of her without much more than servicing costs - fingers crossed... The clutch pedal now bites quite low down and is nowhere near as heavy as before. It was nice to drive her again Edited June 1, 2013 by Yampiedog
OsakaBen
To be fair chucking a new flywheel in while the box is off is recommended anyway - glad you got it sorted! Get out and drive it
Yampiedog
Yeah I know the flywheel is often a necessity with the clutch but I was hoping that it could have been avoided as I had got plans for the other bit of money but hey ho!
Yampiedog
Is it possible for someone to look at clutch and estimate how long it had been failing?
brillomaster
One of those things really - just have to estimate based on how the clutch feels as to how much life it has left. But either way, having a nice new clutch does make the car feel a lot better!
KyleR
Did you buy it from a dealer or private?
Yampiedog
Private, but I am convinced he knew...
