mehdiaj
I have a slight rattle everytime i start/switch off the car if the clutch is not depressed, it sounds like its coming from the gearbox, or transmittion related. if i press the clutch down it doesnt happen. The clutch doesnt slip and i dont hear that sound anyother times? any idea whats causing the noise? Edited May 29, 2013 by mehdiaj
Seabee
its fine its just flywheel chatter the 350'z are known to be a little noisy in the tranny
Martin S
Or it could be the clutch release bearing. If so it will probably cause no issue at all and only go away when the clutch itself needs replacing and a new bearing is fitted as part of the clutch kit. glrnet
Do you have a dual mass or single mass fly wheel? The single mass flywheels are noisier at idle
cs2000
As said before, common thing, so far as I wouldn't even call it an issue.

mehdiaj
Do you have a dual mass or single mass fly wheel? The single mass flywheels are noisier at idle as far as i know its the stock 06facelift fly wheel mate, so not sure which one that is? As said before, common thing, so far as I wouldn't even call it an issue. ah ok, thanks for the answers guys, if it is the clutch release bearing then im assuming that can only be fixed when the whole gearbox is out? if so, then its deffo not worth worrying about!! ZMANALEX
The clutch release bearing is not turning until you press the clutch pedal so the noise will not be from the bearing. The noise you describe sounds like it is from the DMF. Usually the DMF is only replaced when you swop out the clutch kit unless you have a complete DMF failure which is highly unlikely. Alex. smudgedon
As above, mine does this when turning the car off without the clutch depressed. Not an issue, just a trait of the zed
