wizurd
Hi All, Just wondered if anyone has a recommendation for a Tech2 machine. I'm not sure if these are manufacturer dependant or not? Looking for one for a vauxhall zafira. Any advice welcomed. :-)
techinstaller
no such thing as a cheap tech2 vauxhall diag but the next best thing would be Vauxcom which is near full dealer tool and would have tech backup and updates available ,have a look at ilexa.co.uk website The only cheap type tool would be a cracked chineses version usually found on the net especially on the usual auction site .... likely search for opcom. all these would require use of your own laptop to run the software and interface, and please especially if you use an unofficial bit of kit be carefull and make sure you know what you are doing as they read and write to the vehicle ecu's ,very dangerous in a novice hands
wizurd
cheers for the info. I'll have a look around on the auction sites. the cheap Chinese sounds great for the wallet. not so good for the ecu though lol will have to have a think. techinstaller
The cheap OPcom will not usually harm the control modules ,its the possibility of you playing or reprogramming them thats the risky part. the CIM module for example stores the vehicle variant codes ,and the imobiliser stores and checks immo codes and security codes matching and checking with the dash cluster / engine ecu /audio head unit / dis screen and cim module if you wipe or change the info in a module the car will no longer start. All can be very good if you know what you doing but a disaster if you dont. Your zafira will have minimum 15 control modules and more on a higher spec or auto model each individually accessed via the software ,also high ,mid and low speed canbus data can be monitered and configuration altered.
