So when was the last time you felt yourself up...

And checked for either breast cancer or testicular cancer???

I take it that most people have heard about Angelina Jolie having a double mastectomy to prevent herself getting breast cancer, as she has a faulty gene which makes her more likely to develop it. Got me thinking when the last time I checked was, and it's something that fades in and out of my mind when something reminds me.

So if anything, please check yourself out, or get someone to check for you! ;)

I suffer from something called Lipoma. In my case it's fairly chronic although TBH it doesn't affect me at all. Lipoma's are basically benign tumours of fatty tissue that build up around blocked glands and are in general harmless, they can turn up just about anywhere on your body and usually run in families. I have in the region of 100 varying in size from a pea to a snooker ball. I also discovered a large lump just under my ear a few years ago which turned out to be a different kind of benign tumour. I do check my testicles fairly often but have given up having new lumps elsewhere checked out.

Not really, they cause no discomfort and I don't have any on my head, the one below my ear isn't a lipoma and isn't noticeable. I did have a cricket ball sized one removed from my hip 20 years ago and if I wanted I could have most of the others removed on the NHS but it just isn't worth the bother as they simply grow again. They can't turn into malignant tumours so they're just a nuisance really.

Hmm my wife went to the hospital yesterday to the breast clinic as she had a lump just before christmas. This appointment was because she was diagnosed as high risk because of family history and the hospital needed more tests and information on the family. We asked about the AJ situation and was told that my wife needed a blood test from a family member that has had cancer and a blood test from herself we weren't happy as they wanted even more information before proceding even though tgree family members on my wife's side have died of breast cancer. So we applaud AJ for bringing this to the public but if you don't have money it's a long worring process.
