David1951
My 2004 350Z has a Sony radio / cd in place of the original Bose system. I soon discovered that the Sony system didn't drive the rear speakers so I went in search of a solution. In the absence of a local specialist I ended up at halfords who have tried to be very helpful. Unfortunately they have failed! They advised me to get an "audio active adaptor lead" which wasn't the answer. Apparently some sort of "box" is required between the radio and speakers. Any suggestions? Thanks David
14N
First suggestion: Don't bother going back to Halfords. I let them fit my head unit but I was never happy with the sound. After a couple of re-visits to try and solve the problem, I gave up and thought I'd have a go myself. The back of my replacement HU on had one pair of red and white RCA lead plugs, and the way Halfords wired it up, only the front speakers were powered. Then after another visit, they suggested a kind of 2-into-1 adapter so I could fit/use the rear. This ended up with fader on the HU being 'F' for rear speakers and 'R' for front. Genius. To cut a long story short I stripped the RCA leads and wired them directly into the original HU plug. Shortly after I found Busters guide which would of helped me a great deal. It's just a suggestion, but might be worth a try: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/58947-reduced-sound-out-put-after-replacing-oe-bose/
