saiper
I recently put my car through a P3 at the local Nissan garage, for peace of mind more than anything else. Anyway, I got the report back from the mechanic and the only issue he noted was that the clutch could do with replacing. I talked to him to ask what he was basing this on and he told me (in brief) "The clutch feels stiff". Now I have owned cars before with hard clutches, but never experienced any problems arising from it, this includes the Z. I haven't noticed any dips in power when going through the gears, nor anything else untoward. Should I consider changing the clutch just based on what he said? Are 350z clutches general quite stiff? Is there anything I can do (or watch out for) to determine if it needs a change? Cheers:) J.
SteveW
If it's slipping its shagged. If its not and its not making any noises it's good. My clutch is stiff and always has been Typical main dealer BS!
AMT
Replace the clutch when YOU think it needs replaced. If your unsure see a specialist or someone trustworthy....(aka not a Nissan dealer) My bites been really high since I got it, but it'll stay that way until it shows further signs of any problem lol Edited May 10, 2013 by AMT

AMT
Random question... I've seen like £1000 odds being thrown about on the net, but to have the clutch replaced etc and labour how much is a decent price? eg. Clutch and labour ? clutch, flywheel and labour? all the stuff from Alex ...how much should a mechanic be charging for labour if you provide the gear? ZMANALEX
VQ35DE clutch kits are £275.00 and flys are £345.00 Labour is usually 4 hrs so budget for circa £200.00. Alex.

Arran
He's probably never even driven a 350Z the bloke so wouldn't know what it feels like, wouldn't worry about it. The Zs are quite stiff anyway, adds to the muscle character of the car I think. Stick a braided clutch line on it with fresh Nissan sports box fluid and a tube of molyslip, that does wonders for the gearchange
Ebized
As Arran says ^^^^ - nothing to worry about I expect. He has probably got so used to the clutch softies that abound these days and particularly if your 350 is pre facelift they are well known for being stiff - all part of the car's character. raduv66
Get it checked by an independent first someone you can trust . If you don't feel there's a problem then maybe there isn't one but now the main dealer has put a doubt in your mind .You will now be driving it looking for clutch problems so find someone you can trust to have a gander. georgerobertfreeman
Is there a definitive way to check if a clutch needs replacing? Mine will be approaching the 40k mark in the next couple of months and I know a lot go around this mileage?
