Blue Brake Fluid

The Bounty Bar Kid

Recommended Posts

So I wanted to change my brake lines yesterday to some braided HEL ones. However when it came round to doing it, my mate who was gonna do it for me, said he couldn't as he only had Motul brake fluid and the one in my reservoir was blue in colour so I think he said it was synthetic or something. Anyways, he said he'd have to flush it all out as it can't have other brake fluid added to it.

Anyways, my question is is which is better? The stuff I have in there now or to change? However I dunno what the blue stuff is.

Without knowing what spec the blue stuff is, it's impossible to say which is better.

Given that the Motul stuff is excellent, and new brake fluid is usually better than old brake fluid, I'd say change it.

+1 (assuming its BBF600 or 660)

Also, that actually makes it easier for you, as when your bleeding the brakes after changing the lines you will be able to see the colour change and therfore know when the fresh stuff has made it all the way through. :)

Just remember to follow the bleeding order specified on here and do not let the reservoir empty.
