Ebized Posted April 10, 2013 Share Posted April 10, 2013 Just spoke to Nissan Customer Services on the 01923 899334 number and they told me that 925 vehicles are affected. He then went on to say the affected vehicles were from VIN no.0300691 and that had a build date from 24th March 2010 which seems odd as I thought '09 and '10 cars were affected. Might be a good idea if another member can phone Nissan Customer Services to clarify the VIN numbers and build dates that the recall applies to. Scotty Interesting, but I suspect some wires crossed here and it is 370's made up that VIN number/date quoted. Still waiting for the official recall detail which will confirm, but best advice to any 370 owner who is worried is to call your Nissan Dealer sooner rather than later so that they can order up a replacement part before stock runs out and knowing that same problem affects the GTRs, which use the same part as Will ^^^^^ has discovered . Just had a call back from a very helpful guy at Colliers Nissan HPC and he has confirmed that Nissan Customer Services gave me incorrect information. As you suspected Colin, it's Cars with a VIN number UP TO 0300691 and build date UP TO 24th March 2010 that the recall applies to. robin c Posted April 15, 2013 Share Posted April 15, 2013 WLMG Slough have just replaced mine, many thanks to the Service Manager for sorting this out so quickly and confirming the recall which Nissan GB apparently weren't aware of at the time of speaking. Nissan GB customer support on the other hand failed miserably to address my initial inquiry and concerns of the steering lock seizing up on random cold mornings during the winter. They basically denied all knowledge of a issue and tried to charge me £130 for a initial inspection which I would be liable for cost should a fault not be found. Basically the fault was hard to reproduce and happened randomly hence my reluctance to drop car in to dealer. Nissan GB will be getting a nice compliant letter from me in due course when I have calmed down. WTF is the point of buying a sports car from a main dealer with extended warranty cover if the warranty doesn't even cover the basic operation / function of mechanical components such as a steering lock solenoid, come on Nissan GB you really need to be better than this to retain your core performance car customers! I never had any of this fuss with used porsches or BMW extended warranty / recall issues, needless to say, as and when I replace the 370z for a used GTR it sure as hell wont be coming from a Nissan main dealer.I shall buy it privately and shall source my own warranty cover. Motorline at TW efficient as always - their guy has done a few on the GTRs now and I doubt he had mine for more than half an hour. Car is out or warranty, but no charge at all. Had the lock replaced in Leicester yesterday (Abbey Lane). I asked to speak to a technical guy about the key issue and the fact that my alarm goes off frequently - I was wondering if these things are connected. They were no help whatsoever became very defensive and patronising, wouldn't get a guy and said any other work would be charged for e.g. diagnostic check £83! Needless top say I just said 'forget it'. I hate 'Dealers' I do my own servicing etc but thought it wise to have this lock changed. Does anyone else have the alarm issue? Mine goes off randomly about once a week, often in the middle of the night - very embarrassing. Previous dealer said they couldn't find a fault. Before that it was Wed morning 8.30.
