peteman35
Hi guys I have completely run out of ideas to what this is now. I have fitted new discs and pads all round about 400miles ago. The discs were pagid pads are ebc yellow. I have had a low pitch squeal when coming to a stand still, I have copper greased everything I think would make the sound. I wouldn't mind a small squeal as the disc and pad combo but the pitch squeal it makes can be heard from the other side of the village. I have done Zmanlex break in and it got worse. I am really stumped on this and have run out of ideas short of taking it to the garage. Any ideas?
Ekona
Got the anti-squeal shiims on? How did you do the break-in? Really, that should sort most issues.
peteman35
Shims are on all greased. Just followed Zmanlex break in I did 200 easy miles on them before. Then did his break in. Does anyone know what pad glaze looks like? Should the pads be completely matte or have a silvery looking finish
Ekona
They shouldn't be glazed if you've done the break-in procedure. You left a nice long gap between the three stops, I assume? Loads of cool air flowing over them? Tbh I think you may just have to accept that they will squeal at low speeds, not sure what else it could be
peteman35
Yup I might take them back out today and take a picture.. It has to be glaze because the squeal is so low pitch
MidnightRacer
I've just got used to the squeeling! Mine are fine when up to temperature but tend to squeel a bit when plodding through town going to work. Personally, having a history of performance brakes it just comes with the territory nowadays, if you think yours are bad can I suggest you get along to a track day and have a listen to cars in the pits, it will probably make you feel better! peteman35
honestly i put up with it at first but now its so loud you can hear dogs howling to it Ive just took them apart again... and took some pictures. so as you can see on the last pic everytime i have took them out that little nib is shiny... and raised when you look flat against the pad. i have now grinded it as far back as i dare to see if it was hitting. Could have been a bad idea

spursmaddave
It's really quite common, I had my calipers refurbed and one of the pistons had seized that probably didn't help....
KC350Z
try cleaning them down and the disks and re apply the copper grease but don't put to much on as I found when we done my mates brembos on his rs focus we had same problem it was really bad as well and found that where there was to much grease it was getting grit and dirt stuck in it causing the noise might be worth a try
