ph 7
Also forgot to mention on my trip to Worksop yesterday from M6 junction 10 through to the end of the roadworks/new traffic management I got to average 43.1mpg at an average speed of 54mph! That soon dropped though as from the m42 to the m1 there was a 458 italia that I was following. It sounded impressive under acceleration on the motorway and I just wanted to stare at it for a while, Tracy got a couple of pics while we followed it for 20 miles. It affected all the trafic it went past.... Funny watching a Passat taxi trying to race it! My mpg fell to 36 by the end of it but it was worth....gorgeous! ph 7
Well today(actually yesterday now) I received my winter alloys from Keyser. A set of lovely 17" JDM with toyo proxes on them. The timing couldn't have been better with me having this as a rear wheel... Untitled by p_h_7, on Flickr I drove over a metal clip of some sort that ripped through my rear conti sport. My rears were low on thread anyway so all is not lost. Hated running at 50mph only though with the space saver. Also, there is a place reserved in hell for the person that designed the spare wheel location. How hard is it to get out and put back in?!! I took more skin from my hands getting it in and out than doing anything else. Untitled by p_h_7, on Flickr So seeing as there is tread left on the wheels I decided to downgrade my alloys temporarily while I source new boots for the rays. I was looking forward to trying out my new trolley jack and set about getting a wheel off. It was this point that I encountered Keyser's wrapping. You'd think he didn't want me to use them! Untitled by p_h_7, on Flickr After a mass of unwrapping here it is compared to the rays: Untitled by p_h_7, on Flickr Finally the car with all 4 on after a trip to the shops to test handling and buy booze. Untitled by p_h_7, on Flickr This may sound odd but I do like these alloys. Maybe it is just because it is a novelty having them on. There is one thing that I have noticed though and that is that the ride in the car is softer due to the extra inch of rubber and it isn't a bad thing on some of the roads near me. I must say that the toyos are great and felt really grippy in the wet. Very impressed initially. Big thanks to keyser for sorting them out for me and to mrs keyser for the cling film! As with all jobs, you spot the next job on the list. I'd noticed a rattle when I went over speed bumps, so while the front was jacked up I had a quick peek at the undertray. I currently have 5 fixings holding it up, it is really loose and bowing in the middle. I need to source fixings now.
ph 7
A quick update. My Rays are now back on the car after I sourced some Bridgestone re050a's for the rear. Despite my enjoyment of the alloy switch I'm glad they are back on, they look lovely...filthy but lovely. While I was at the garage picking my alloys up I asked if I could pop the car on the ramp to get a better look at the undertray. Thanks to Zmanalex as he had already given me an idea on the fixings quantity and pricing and as I looked underneath it I could see where several bolts had sheared off and where the mounting points for some of the captive nuts had split, so not as simple as just replacing some that had dropped out... so out came the cable ties which will tide (tied pun missed opurtunity) me over until after lakez. Then I'll strip it off and see what I can do with it. Tomorrow should bring my Factory Nismo kit which I will be getting on (hopefully) before lakez. Having never fitted anything to a car like this will make it fun and terrifying in equal measure . Target will be to get the front bumper and skirts on. The spats will have to wait as they are unpainted but will tie in nicely with the rear bumper/wing rust spray I require in the future. I have updated my first post with things that I will soon be listing for sale as the Nismo kit means there are items I do not need anymore due to the change in direction. I'll get them posted in the sections soon once I have pics with usernames.

ph 7
Now Tracy and I are taking the day off on Friday so we will be there quite early i think, I don't know what everyone else is doing or wether there is scope for a midlands convoy up.....For all I know I may be still fixing parts to it on the morning as I fight with the camping gear to go in it. Tonneau divider out...tent in.

ph 7
So was I, this arrived today IMG_0552 by p_h_7, on Flickr And I was mega excited until I unwrapped the bumper to find three splits from transport. left hand side (as looking at it) IMG_0557 by p_h_7, on Flickr Split by washer right IMG_0558 by p_h_7, on Flickr Split by washer left IMG_0556 by p_h_7, on Flickr To say i'm gutted is an understatement Skirts and spats are fine Would appreiciate suggestions as to what can be done to get it looking good again
Wasso
I'm not surprised either with the way the bumper has been wrapped. Needed internal support to stop it flexing by the look of things. Gutting I have to say, a body shop will fix that for you.
14N
Gutted mate. Was is not insured with the courier company? With something of that value (if declared), insurance is sometimes included?
ph 7
Not insured, found out paiselyfreight dont cover bodykits and I had faith that they would delivery ok so told the seller to wrap them well and that I trusted the delivery company. I just cant decide if i should fit it for lakez or not. Which is worse, a cracked nismo or a crap painted standard?
14N
Personally I'd stick with the standard bumper for LakeZ. It's a long drive so you run the risk of doing more, irrepairable damage to the Nismo bumper. I know you'd like it fitted for LakeZ mate, but it's best to leave a cracked bumper at home than to return home with half the aforementioned bumper missing as it split on the motorway. ph 7
Hi mate first off is the packaging damaged in the same sort of place and also I have got a mate who is a specialist fibreglasser let me know mate Packaging looked fine. but hard to tell with bubble wrap. I can't even guess at what has caused it to split in the three places. Thanks for the offer on your friend, It would be great to have someone in the know give it the once over. With regards to the lakez Ian is right. I'm not putting any of it on the car yet until it is fit for purpose. Just to add to the misery, Tracy has just got home in the Passat with a failed drivers window! Motor turns but window doesn't move. Got it closed now at least. Try and get it booked in somewhere for while we are away.
Mopedmark
Looking at them photos mate I would say the damage was done before it was packed the second pic it looks like damage under the paint as well
ph 7
So big update, I've been away for a few weeks and bogged down with work so my time on here had become minimal. Things should now be back to normal again hopefully. So lets recap, broken nismo front bumper in multiple places. Many thanks to mopedmark (again) for helping source someone to conduct the repair. The damage turned out to be far worse than initially thought and under inspection needed more doing to it. This had led to reconstruction that now makes this bumper tougher than ever Pictures after the return, sorry none of the rear where all the magic had happened. Untitled by p_h_7, on Flickr Untitled by p_h_7, on Flickr Untitled by p_h_7, on Flickr Untitled by p_h_7, on Flickr Untitled by p_h_7, on Flickr About a month ago I heard a metallic scraping coming from the rear. Stripped the nearside rear wheel off to look for issues, was worried it was my spacer doing something terrible. Could see anything until I tried to put the wheel back on and then I noticed the wobble.....wheel bearing failure. So got that booked in with my mechanic and all is now well again. So then the car went in for bumper and skirts prepping spraying and fitting and also a wing and bonnet blend while I was away in Spain. A massive thanks to Parkside Autos in Wednesbury for the job done. They conducted a hell of a lot of work to get the car to where it is now and I can whole heartedly recommend them for anyone needing work done.....drum roll please Emerging after the paint job Untitled by p_h_7, on Flickr Close to floor! But I can't wait to get it out there to see you all again. The front of the car looks new, all stone chips are gone from the wings and bonnet. Thosr of you who saw my old bumper up close know how peppered a 183k mile bumper gets!
