Retro fitting isn't do able so I've been searching the net for illuminated rings or even just a clear plastic ring but struggling to find either apart from one on eBay for a focus

You can get the OEM part from a G35 frim RHDJapan. Its about £100 though

Yeah I read on my350 that they made an led one for silly money. Someone bought the ring from Nissan for $15 instead but never finished the thread for if it worked.

The HRs use a transponder Alex said & someone on my350 mentioned a NATS aerial

My wife says I have never been any good at finding small slots in the dark, whatever that means, so I have just got hold of screen washer jet with a red LED already in it (this is for the car by the way)

I plan to fit it to the bottom of the column housing where there is a neat area just the right size, Probably spray it Matt Black so it looks discreet and wire it up to the centre dome light so it behaves like the door lights and at the same time. So far it has cost me about £5 including loads of wire and I still have a spare jet which I might fit under the bonnet near the dip stick because I can never see that either.

So it could be a cheap and neat mod provided I don't brake the door pillar trim or burn out the wiring.

I think the Honda ring may not fit a z as the barrel looks too big on the z but I may be wrong - I thought this was less hassle

More to follow....

What did you search on eBay? I've tried illuminated ignition & just ignition ring

I think I just searched the part number

You can get http://www.rhdjapan.com/g-corporation-ignition-key-cylinder-led-light-61285 from RHD for £90

You can get the OEM one http://www.infinitipartsusa.com/Item-3-2004-G35-Key-lamp-p/48476av700-1431984-118452.htm for $17 :)

OEM part number is 48476-AV700 if anyone wants to try a Nissan dealer for a price
