Ekona
We run ours on 5w-40, generally accepted across the world as the best grade to use on the 2L turbo engines. I use Silkolene Pro S in ours, 'tis good stuff.

Ekona
Erm, that's not good! Oil light is useless on all cars, by the time it comes on your engine is fubared. Have you not checked the oil level since Jan?
jumping350
I bought it 4 weeks ago been off road since then, that's what's bit strange about it,my friend seems to think its quite common and anything under 4 litres and it wont show on dipstick, but runs fine no noises or smoke, normal op temp, will have to just change it i think, too dark now, do you know what oil capacity is for changing? The Chubby Ninja
Dont mean to sound stupid but are you putting the oil in the right bit lol. Millers racing oils are good for the scoobys too
Ekona
4.5L including filter, did mine two weeks ago so I know that's right Definitely change it all and keep a very close eye on it, these engines don't tend to burn a lot of oil unless there's an issue. Much blue smoke on start up?
jumping350
Yeah i know where the oil goes in lol no blue smoke from what i can see just general condensation as its cold, thanks ekona for info and chubby for oil recomendation, maybe it was a crap brand of oil went in not thick enough, well there's an extra litre in there for now
Ekona
But still not showing on the stick? You either need to add more or your dipstick is wrong,
jumping350
Will do,its not going anywhere for now,so can sort it before i take it out, that's why you always check your oil
The Chubby Ninja
Didnt mean to make you sound like a div lol but someone on here put coolent in the oil last week haha. Just a thought that maybe its the wrong dipstick maybe out of an earlier/later engine? Just weird that its not showing anything
Greddy-Matt
We run ours on 5w-40, generally accepted across the world as the best grade to use on the 2L turbo engines. I use Silkolene Pro S in ours, 'tis good stuff. Tis good advice, 5W-40 Pro S is exactly what I run mine on (2005 sti) and it likes it very much, grab a 5ltr bottle from Opie or similar, my dipstick is next to useless, always gives iffy readings takes 5/6 attempts to get a half clear reading, as that is it's only job in life it's fairly rubbish. Filers are cheap as chips for these things so buy a few in,and change the oil regularly as it gets gopping quick, import car parts are good for filters.
