CrumbMC
Can't believe i haven't notice this before: All the juice is WD40 which I have been spraying daily on the other studs before i attempt to remove them. Can this be repaired easily or is it a stud welded to the car?
ZMANALEX
There should be a nut on there, however I would not worry about it as the other 3 bolts will keep the strut bar in place and they will not break on removal. Alex.
CrumbMC
I didn't explain myself too well. The stud has snapped. There's no thread protruding and it looks to have sheared. Maybe the previous owner over tightened it or something. I thought it would be fine with the other 3 but I think it looks terrible.
ChrisS
If you really want it out and to replace it. It's a drill it and screw extractor job. And a new bolt from Alex or a scrappy.
CrumbMC
I just took off the strut brace and it deffo is a snapped stud. Too short to put a nut on. cant rly see underneath but it looks like its welded too the suspension turret thing. My main concern is that it looks crap. Can anyone think if a solution other than welding on a new stud? Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
ZMANALEX
If it is bothering you that much then to tidy up the cosmetic appearance just grind it back flush and paint over. These studs can not be removed without a bit of fabrication, however a quick fix is to weld a similar 30mm part to the stub that is showing refit strut bar and fit new nut and hey presto. Alex. CrumbMC
Yeah, thats what i had in mind. the strut brace was still very solid with 3. think i'll just try something to make it look nice
Keyser
The only options are to weld a new stud on or drill the old one and tap a thread in - won't be that strong but would look nicer - or as alex says just grind it off flush.
