Hi all, i just got my car home after having my garage roofs rebuilt and the stereo a double din alpine one is all working but i have no sound coming out of the speakers. Also does anyone know why i also have a single din headunit behind my passenger seat. I have only had the car a few months and its my first time looking round it and starting to work on it..!!!

cheers in advance

No idea about the sound, probably loose connector or something's plugged in the wrong port though. As for the drive behind the seat, do you have sat nab. Could be the cd/DVD drive for that.

does it have aftermarket speakers and amps fitted? as could be a fuse to the amps or the remote has blown or disconnected

does it have OEM bose sub and speakers? if so how is the headunit connected to the bose equipment

possibly blown the headunits onboard amp

just a few of many possible things it could be

it has standard speakers i think, the head unit has built in sat nav and just noticed the screen above the stereo ( built in sat nav) doesnt light up or display anything :(

Pull the headunit out and check all the wiring, its possible it use to have aftermarket speakers amp and in the haste of converting it back to bose they've missed a connection. The stock sat nav is stand alone so should work with the bose headunit also. My bet would be on the extra ground wire needed to turn the bose amp on, everyone always forget this.

Its nothing to do with the antenna wire, you need to make sure the earths are all wired up including the extra earh wire to the chassis that turns on the bose amp as the standard bose system grounds through the unit. Some people get lucky as the antenna is enough to earth the system but you should do it as in this guide....

If the unit fires up and works fine with no sound then yes it will almost certainly be the amp remote wire (blue/white)

If the unit starts up then almost straight away turns itself off it will need earthing, but you would grt sound for a secomd or two if that was the case I think....

Hopefully something simple good luck

I had to have mine earthed to the bolts by the gear box if that helps... :)
