Fisherking
Hi Picked up my new (to me) 350z today Got home to find my stubby aerial had arrived from Steve at Redline so fitted straight away, looks great Had a very long drive for a few hours and absolutely love my new car, especially with the window down But about 2 miles from home I started hearing the dreaded "clicking" noise , whether it was there all the time but I just didn't hear it I'm not sure. I bought the car from a good local dealer in Bournemouth (My wife and I bought our family car from them a couple of years ago as well) and it has a 3mth warranty. But the garage is not a specialist - So is it okay to......print off the link viewtopic.php?f=9&t=60165&hilit=try+this+first and give it to them and ask their mechanics to fix it. Or is this just going to be insulting I don't have the tools to be able to attempt fix myself or I would Matt
rtbiscuit
it doesn't stop the car from working. the car is no longer in warranty, I think its down to you to get it fixed. if you didn't pick it up in the pre sale inspection its on you to fix. Huh He picked it up today.... I think its worth talking to the garage, if it is covered in the warranty is doubtful but definitely worth talking to them, its not a huge fix you can buy new parts but in the main the clicky axle can be taken apart and regreased if it is not too bad

I had trouble getting Nissan to do it a week out of warranty. ask them but if it didn't have a warranty agreed as part of the sale I think its down to the op

tc350z
I had the same problem as well, I didn't even notice it on the test drive but only after a few hour after ownership did I hear the dreaded click! The garage I bought it from did get it fixed under my 6month warranty. I told them I had It "inspected" from a local garage and identified the problem they said ok, done! I say, just go and speak to them, they could only say no.
Ekona
it doesn't stop the car from working. the car is no longer in warranty, I think its down to you to get it fixed. if you didn't pick it up in the pre sale inspection its on you to fix. Nope, if not picked up on before the car is delivered then it's classed as a fault, it's on the dealer to fix from this point. Why would it be on the buyer to fix? If the buyer didn't pick up on a slight tick from the engine and it went bang two days later, would you expect the buyer to sort that too? On a private sale I agree with you, but not when buying from a dealer. To the OP, no harm in printing the instructions off, the dealer may appreciate the heads up, just remember to say that the noise definitely wasn't there when you looked at the car originally. That what I meant the op said he just bought it from a good local dealer with 3 months warranty I would expect them to 'fix' it i.e. regrease the clicky axle but if the op wanted a proper fix a compromise would be he buys the kit and they fit it FOC..... At the end of the day the OP could return the car if not happy couldn't he within a certain period
Ekona
He could reject it, but it would be a long process and a bit drawn out. Might not even be acceptable in this case, as it's just a noise and doesn't effect the working of the car, so the court may not rule in his favour. Maybe. I agree with you, they can regrease for free and hope it doesn't come back within a reasonable period (3 mths probably) else they'll be doing it again, or the kit could be fitted. If the OP buys the kit and the garage fits for free, I'd say that's a win/win all round.

HARMLU
I'm from bournemouth and got mine from Norman Motors. I'm pretty sure they would have fixed this, but then they use there own garage for warranty, not a third party. What garage did you get it from? Fisherking
Thanks everyone for your advice. From what i have read of the problem the re-greasing seems to work. It has even been suggested the actual fix is the re-torquing of the nuts and that the re-greasing is just "going through the motions". Is it worth therefore getting the kit do you think? Hey Harmlu funny enough thats where I have bought mine from. I'm sure if it was there before i would have heard it as i was driving with windows dwn. i only started hearing it in last cple of miles of the 40 odd mile drive i was on. i did pop into Normans and saw Tony who sold it to me as mechanics had gone hm.He thought was calipers but i wasnt sure so did some more research when got hm and i certain its this from all the info on it and you tube etc. Matt

Could save you a lot off ball ache in the long run! They are a very reputable dealer and I am sure they will have no problem helping you out with this!
