EvansJD2112
Saturday sorted..... As long as fascia adapter, aerial, iPod cable turn up tomorrow.....
Stutopia
Very nice, it looks a lot like my 2500BT, but with much better brains inside. Really pleased with mine, even if the touch screen is a bit sluggish and not quite iPad standard. I'd be curious to know how you get on with the app radio feature, if you use that. I've not had much luck with mine with either iPhone 5 or iPad, but then again I didn't buy it for that feature. Good luck with the fitting fun! EvansJD2112
Looking forward to getting DAB back in the car and trying out the App mode
spursmaddave
What sort of aerial you using for DAB reception?
EvansJD2112
Ordered the Pioneer AN-DAB1 to try first. Had a Pure Highway in the car last year using just the standard windscreen aerial and reception was fine. Other option I'm thinking is to replace the FM one.... Anyone done this? spursmaddave
Expensive to replace the FM one, I had a JVC winscreen one down the passenger side front and reception was fine although where I live and where I work there is crap reception so now I use internet radio
The Bounty Bar Kid
I was looking at that one for myself. Really want dab. Please review it when installed.
EvansJD2112
Will do. On offer at Halfords right now for £299. Not quite the cheapest but convenient to pickup.
Olliecrx
Really good unit, you'll not be disappointed! Pioneer stuff has been hard to beat in recent years. Im in Northern Ireland and windscreen dab aerials are actually pretty good now we have completed the full digital switch over so you may find the same, before hand it was patchy at best. The Bounty Bar Kid
So cheap too! I remember my first pioneer head unit in my 206, it cost me nearly £1,000. Was awesome though! Only single din too! No TV screen, just music but oh my god the quality was amazing!
glrnet
I put the external glass mounted antenna on mine and it's pretty good
spursmaddave
I fitted DAB and was dissapointed, really flat compared to FM.... Internet Radio with a decent bitrate seems much better so far Edited March 14, 2013 by spursmaddave
The Bounty Bar Kid
A lot of dab radio stations transmit at 128kbps, whilst analogue radio can come out at 156kbps. Few dabs stations transmit at 192kbps.

Even at the higher rate it sounds very flat.... try tuning into a decent FM signal and DAB and switch between the 2 and you will hear what I mean... The Bounty Bar Kid
Only Radio 3, Classic FM and Virgin transmit at a higher bit rate. The others all worse.
fishmanboy
Am I being too Impatient to ask if you've fitted this yet? I'm tempted by a new HU myself and I'm keen to see how this one looks and performs. :-)
EvansJD2112
Fitted this morning, took a couple of hours all in without any real probs. Did forget to plug the FM aerial in though, annoying but that can wait! Planned to put Dab aerial on passenger side of windscreen, but picked up interference when cable was routed in. Maybe too close to my power feed to the amp for my sub. So, aerial is now on the small side window passenger side and seems fine. Will go for a drive tomorrow to see if I need to change. Sound is great on Dab and iPod, clear and louder than the Alpine it replaces. Played with App radio for 5 mins. Looks good and will see how Dashcmd looks tomorrow. Impressed so far, especially at less than £
fishmanboy
Looks good, thanks for the update. I think I will need to enlist the help of a more mechanically minded friend when installing... I'm sure I'd manage to electrocute myself or something
EvansJD2112
It's really quite easy if you follow the guides in the forum. Looks a lot harder than it actually is.

Yeah it looks like lots of work but if you follow all the steps and don't miss anything there isn't too much to go wrong really... Nice job BTW looks like a nice unit

Olliecrx
That's a tidy camera, I never bothered fitting my rear camera in the end because it looked like a giant wart on the bootlid lol!!! But that could be my solution!
spursmaddave
I have the same one you can hardly notice it unless you know it is there
