KurtB Posted May 9, 2013 Share Posted May 9, 2013 After having a look around to confirm, my understanding is that these tend to disrupt the airflow (as long as they have been well designed). This would reduce drag, but it would also increase lift - great if you're into rallying or drifting, not great otherwise. Trying to recall from memory from a few years ago (so I may be wrong!!!) is that on aircraft they disrupt the air to make control surfaces more responsive / effective. So possibly at exceptionally high speeds on a car maybe they are designed to increase the downforce created by the spoiler? I doubt there would be any noticeable difference below 200mph!
