eaze
Purchased a 2004 350z manual GT 74000 miles 2 weeks ago and have been reading the forum pretty much everyday for the past few weeks so thought I'd say hi I want to get a P3 Major Service carried out to ensure that everything is in good shape, I am currently booked in at WLMG Nissan Hanwell (Ealing, West London) for Thursday morning and have been quoted at £299 which seems to be a mid-range price based on some of the threads I have seen on here so far. The more I read, the more I get the feeling that I could be saving money and have a lot more love shown to my car if I take it to somewhere recommended on here as opposed to my local Nissan dealer. The car does have a couple of issues: - Passenger side arm rest has snapped off - Driver side window is a little funny, if I flick it up to shut it gets to the top and then open all the way down again! Sometimes if I use it while driving, when I park up and shut the door it drops 1/4 of the way down! Passenger window works occasionally. I'm not hugely fussed about the above two but would be nice to get them fixed at some point.. - Front bumper crack (see pic) - I'd like to get this fixed soon but flinch at the thought of the cost I would greatly appreciate any advice or recommendations, I'm prepared to travel a bit for a good service if need be! Pnthrblkzs
Welcome, and congrats on your new zed. I plan to use kaiser motors for my servicing etc and I live no where near them, plenty of great reviews about them on this site. http://www.kaizermotor.co.uk/ For the window I'd try the window reset procedure yourself before getting a garage to look at it, search so Dow reset and there are plenty of posts. It is common for the window motors to fail on these cars though but fingers crossed for you. For the arm rest take it off and see if you can repair it at all, if not pm ZMANALEX for any spares you need. Jon
Pnthrblkzs
Here's one thread about the window reset procedure I quickly found which gives you an idea how easy it is to try. First thing I did to my car when I got it as the drivers window was doing strange things.

eaze
Many thanks for the recommendations so far I gave Sly a call from Kaiser Motors and he quoted me £180 for the P3 with an optional extra of £80 to fit platinum spark plugs. He said the iridium ones would also be the same price (extra £80) but that seeing as the rest of my zed is stock standard I should go with the platinum ones as they will last a bit longer than the iridium ones. Would someone be able to explain the difference in benefit on the car for standard spark plugs compared to platinum or iridium ones? Would there really be enough benefit to justify £80? Also if anyone is able to point me in the right direction regarding the crack on the front bumper from my original post? Many thanks in advance Pete Ps. will try the window reset later today and let you know how I get on

eaze
£80!! bite his hand off, i was quoted £300 at my local nissan dealer to change the plugs £300!!?!! wow! I gave ZMANALEX a shout and he has hooked me up with the iridium ones for £60 including delivery Could of saved another £17 by going to ebay but their estimated delivery was Friday and I needed them delivered by Wednesday at the very latest in time for the eagerly anticipated service first thing Thursday morning. I don't think I've ever been this excited about getting a car serviced before! Welcome to the Land of Zed... Where in London are you. ? Hey Will! I am based in West Ealing. Hello and Your window issues sound the same as the ones I had. Did the reset and it's been fine since. I tried one of the window reset procedures I found but no joy, there seem to be many versions of the process out there, would you be able to let me know where I can find the process you successfully used? I think I'm going to need new tyres as I seem to always wheelspin if turning while pulling off, they do look pretty bald.. I'm starting to feel guilty for constantly asking you all for help, but if anyone does have any recomendations they are always much appreciated Pete

eaze
Update: ZMANALEX sorted me out, the iridium plugs arrived on Wednesday morning, nicely in time for the service on Thursday at Kaizer Motor. Sly was amazing and really took care of me, the total came to £255 for the P3 service including fitting new drive belts, fitting the iridium plugs, new under-tray bolts, and he also sorted my passenger side window issue There is a bit more work needed: New rear drop links New front bushes x4 New tyres He gave me a few options for the tyres and I have decided to go for the Michelin Pilot Super Sports Total comes to less than £1,120 for all the parts and fitting including a wheel alignment - I'm never going to another garage again! I'm booked in for next Thursday morning to get all the above done, really can't wait to go for a drive after Question - I have seen a couple of threads on the forum regarding Longlife exhausts. I have had good experience with them in the past - within about a week of getting a Honda Accord 3.0 V6 coupe a few years ago, I took it to their Southall branch for a full custom system and got them to take out all of the silencers as well as the cat, the thing was amazing!! Unfortunately I won't be able to do exactly the same now out of consideration for my neighbours, but just wondering if anyone else has any experience with Longlife and their Zed? I'm open to other suggestions for exhausts, or really any suggestions in terms of upping performace Cheers, Pete Edited March 16, 2013 by eaze
