downhuman
Hey guys How can I stop my headlights from streaming washer fluid all over the place when I use my windscreen washer and the lights are on? Really annoys me Cheers Rob
BulletMagnet
There must be a fuse somewhere.... Or just disconnect the washer pump for the headlight washers on the reservoir, passenger side behind the bumper
spursmaddave
If your windscreen is dirty your lights probably are too
The Chubby Ninja
I hate this too. When i get some time im going to disconnect mine. You spend hours cleaning and drying the car only to get some flys on your windscreen, so you try to remove them and now the whole cars covered in washer fluid. So annoying
WhackyWill
I started a post on this some time ago, as I cleaned the car went out used the windscreen washer once ( a squashed fly" ) had to clean the car again as it was covered in "streaky" washer fluid from the headlights...GRRRR !!!! ... Tinyflier
I started a post on this some time ago, as I cleaned the car went out used the windscreen washer once ( a squashed fly" ) had to clean the car again as it was covered in "streaky" washer fluid from the headlights...GRRRR !!!! ... Ummmm ... Doesn't the headlight cleaner switch activate or deactivate this function? I thought turning that ON would a) give you an instant wash AND link the headlight cleaner to the windscreen washer. Turning it OFF i thought disables headlight cleaning completely. Or are you telling me the headlight cleaner is constantly active? David. Edited March 9, 2013 by Tinyflier
CrustyCrab
It's only when the light are on. It does it the first time you wash with the light on and then periodically if you keep using the washers. The button does intant but only if the lights are on.... I'm pretty sure
richmillions
This really bugs me, I even try use the windscreen washers until the last minute if I've cleaned the car The button just activates the headlight washers as far as I know, other more knowledgeable will say for sure. Impressed
If yours hase stopped working check the fluid level. When it gets low the headlamp washers are disabled to save whats left for your windscreen. They are on all the time and squirt every 3 times the windscreen is washed. The button simply gives you an opotunity to squirt manually. It is law that these are fitted and working on cars fitted with HID. So may fail an MOT. Can you not just point them to the side and annoy other drivers.

What he said^^^ Yeah prob a fuse job, although it probably shares a fuse with something else that you dont want to turn off, so might have to disconnect and re-connect at MOT time. Sam Mcgoo
OR you can momentarily turn your head lights off when you hit the washer and it won't happen.
BulletMagnet
Or fill the reservoir with a mix of water and Megs Gold Class, lol Or fill it with Quick Detailer, then all you do is buff off with a microfibre cloth

WhackyWill
Is there a seperate motor for the headlight washers or is it from the windscreen washer motor, if seperate just disconnect it..??
cs2000
Bullet, best idea ever! Will, come to think of it, there is! pop off the wheel arch liner on passenger side, look below the headlamp and theres a big bottle full of washer fluid with what iirc looks like a motor attached too it and an electrical connector. mines already dead, im guessing motor is dead as i cant wash my lights (and it upsets me that this is broken) but you could just unplug this. Just remember to re-activate it come MOT time. I have yet to find a fuse for the washers as that was what i intially suspected was wrong with mine!
petedj
Look in the small fusebox by the battery. There is a green plastic fusible link cartridge. Snip the middle fusible link of the three. End of headlamp washing. But have a spare to slip in for MOT time. Micra uses the same cartridge if you need a spare.
