Louisa911
My Rays might get treated to a refurb come summertime and a mid-to dark bronze colour has been at the back of my mind for a while. Thought that photoshopping them might be enough to put me off the idea which is probably very silly (kinda feel i should just keep them original.... and that if I wanted bronze I should buy new alloys... but which i can't afford at all....) however I'm still totally undecided! What do you reckon? Sadly totally new rims are out of the question this year until I've paid off my mountain bike's 0% finance. The reason I'm swaying over the idea is that I think it makes the wheels look a lot smaller with them being a darker colour?
Ekona
Actually, that looks alright to me. Maybe a bit deeper in colour?
docwra
It does look alright .......... but in my experience painting standard wheels a different colour generally just makes a car look strange. I wouldnt do it myself.
Louisa911
Always thought that myself too, thought I'd best do a quick photoshop to confirm that! Looks alright but I reckon in the flesh it might not look so great. Hmmmmm.....
NeilMH
I'm not at all sure - I think the colours don't quite complement each other. Maybe another shade. As Ekona said...maybe darker...but even then might not be quite the right combination.
Louisa911
Yeah I can see this being a tricky one to get right... in some lights the gunmetal looks more bluish and others more purply/warmer tint to it.... and I guess you could have a bronze colour richer / cooler. Currently thinking probably just stick to silver and consider new alloys at a later date.
S1 HNK
I think they'll look good but after a while you'll miss the way they looked in silver. It is amazing how much smaller they will look when you paint them darker.
LRF4N
They looked good on the black zed at rt performance but don't think they suit the grey personally
SteveRS
Makes the zed look a bit dull if I'm honest Louisa, doesn't make them wheels pop like the original silver in your signature pic. Possibly deeper like Ekona suggested. GM is a difficult colour to play with when trying to be different from the norm when it comes to wheels. Will be interesting to see what you come up with
Louisa911
Will have to get my thinking cap on. Think I agree with most, in those pics they look ok. but to get the right colour and shade to compliment the gunmetal might be a tad tricky! Thanks for the honest opinions
Paddy78
I quite like that, think they'd look nice. Much better than black imho!
SteveRS
Maybe consider a polished lip......
Stutopia
I'm having the exact same dilemma, the Rays on my GM need a refurb and I can't resist the temptation to change the colour, but what to? WARNING: If you post up a good photoshop, I may shamelessly copy you!
spursmaddave
Looks ok without being fantastic.... maybe more of a darker gunmetal grey would look better but then the door handles will look odd
Arran
Thing with the rays is they don't look like a standard wheel, so you can get away with doing different colours Personally on a gun metal Z if I had one id be doing them midnight purple 3
Stutopia
Would maybe a highly polished finish be acceptable? Have I gone wrong in my mindtanks?
Louisa911
Hmm that could be interesting Stu, would need to see some examples first i think. And the polished lip idea. Could alternatively go crazy as suggested with purple! Think they would look a bit weird though without any other bold noticeable mods. Will have a bit of a session on photoshop over the weekend and see what crops up on google images too.
Flex
How about a deeper bronze/dark copper ish?
Jay
I am not loving that, I feel that because your zed is gm you should be trying to lift the colour of the wheels slightly, rather than making them darker. Would you not consider a nice bright colour?

Louisa911
Love those purple ones! But it does definitely need those other mods to pull it off. The shadow chrome looks lovely.... thats certainly on the shortlist, thanks!
