Paddy78
I've recently noticed a ticking noise coming from the back of my engine. It seems to be as if under the plenum, it's not loud, but wasn't there before so obviously want to find out if anything is wrong. I've done a search and there are a number of threads with similar noises, but there doesn't seem to be one solution as you'd expect from a quick diagnosis over the internet. The noise increases in line with engine revs and is there when the engine is hot or cold. Oil pressure and temperature appear to be normal. My car was serviced in December with oil and plugs supplied by ZMANALEX, so I don't think it is related. I also check the oil regularly and top up when needed, but the oil level has never been really low. I've checked the fuel regulator pipe, but the noise doesn't seem to be coming from that area and there is no noticeable pulsing. There are no engine warning lights or any other issues / noises when driving. Video below, any advice greatly appreciated.

Dblock
Usually fuel regulator?
glrnet
It's the fuel regulator, to confirm, put you hand on the regulator or the pipe leading to it and you should be able to feel it ticking.
Paddy78
The fuel reg is this part (Not my car btw): The noise doesn't seem to be coming from here, more like under the plenum? Would this be where you'd expect the noise to be if it was the fuel reg? Thanks for you help guys, really appreciate it as always! I'm going to Abbey in a few weeks, so I'll see if they can look at it unless someone thinks this is life threatening? I assume if it's the fuel reg, that it's not an urgent fix? catamahu
The injectors are usually ticking. If it's not loud, don't bother. Water pump is also known for ticking.
narcotix
I've also got a very similar issue on my zed .. I've changed the fuel pressure regulator (the one under the plenum) but it's had no effect...
Neoncypher
Apologies for the thread resurrection, but did you ever find out what this was and how to fix it? My engine had just started to make the exact same noise...
glrnet
Change the fuel regulator.
