Toad
Hi all I'm a complete novice with anything to do with cars - I've got a tiny rust spot only 4mm x 4mm on the rim of the back side window - is this something I can repair myself and if so can someone advise on the products I need to get and what I need to do - car is gun metal Thanks and sorry for the beginners question
Dave-350
I did a repair like this on my E36. If you have the time a skill to rub it down and treat it, spray it then you can do it. Personally I would hand it to a good bodyshop for the cost wouldn't be much and it will probably be a better job
leonk
Wizurd posted up a similar question a while back funnily enough and got some good replies, photos and product info. Perhaps pm him or search his posts.

Sized
Treat with Kurust and fill in with a touch up kit? Seems to have worked ok for my stone chips so far

Seriously though, try http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/64678-how-to-treat-this-small-chip-which-has-a-small-bit-of-rust-on-it/ lol i thought grinding it all off would be a good idea seriously though like leonk said I had pretty much the same issue. small chip just around the edge of the rear passenger side window. simply used a glass fibre pen to get the rust off, added some krust then just to make sure there was nothing else left. then used some etch primer with a toothpick to get an undercoat and once properly dried used the standard nissan touch up kit. came out really well I thought. If you've got anymore questions just drop me a line. was first time I'd done anything like this and it went well so I wouldn't worry to much. Most importantly I'd say be patient when your doing the work. dont rush it. A bit of good weather helps as well
