Bad Earth??

Hi all,

I fitted a new head unit a few weeks ago and every time I press the brake pedal I get a quick cut out noise on my left speakers, sounds like the wires have been unpluged and then plugged back in very quickly, Would this just be a case of fitting the head unit earth lead to a better place?

Thanks all

Please let me know if you get anywhere with this!

I have tried literally everything i can think of. Quite a lot of people have this problem if you do a google. There are a couple of thread's on the US forum.

I am beginning to think its an incompatibility issue between the bose amps and the new HU. As you have now noticed you have to turn the volume quite high on the new HU to get any output.

With the two blocks of wires I had i joined the two earth together from each and then i run a wire from them two earths to a screw on the bulkhead, is really annoying when the music is low because everytime you brake you get the click sound

Mines using the factory earth bud. I also tried my own earth but still had the problem.

Seems like a compatibility issue to me as i think the amps/speakers run on 1ohms.

Random thought :)

Do you guys have brake wear sensors? I'm trying to make an association between braking and interference - it crossed my mind.

I believe its when the actual brake lights go on. If you push down very lightly on the brake nothing happens but as soon as you push hard enough for the brake lights to come on it clicks.

Yes I have these sensors but don't know why it would make the speaker 'tick' is really annoying, Also 350AD you don't think it will be any use taking the head unit out and trying to put the earth somewhere else?

It didnt help me out bud. I have spent many hours on this. Mine just came on recently btw the head unit has been installed for a while. I took it to a car audio shop and they said they had the same problem with an Audi Bose system and it took them ages to diagnose. Ended up being a deteriorated earth on the bose amp itself.
