DoogyRev
Here is another one . . .looks stunning . . . . just a shame it doesn't make the right noise for an E-Type http://www.carscoops.com/2017/09/classic-jaguar-e-type-reincarnates-into.html
leonk
I wondered when you would be on my case Doogy. Updates and pics this weekend promise. Not sure about the electric E type, and after a lot of consideration probably won't be fitting the 370 lights. I would however like to thank you for your contribution, technical input and time spent researching this particular upgrade.

leonk
Onto a special dolly to help me fit it... And back in the car.. This created a new problem and a bit of a panic! Too much unsupported weight at the back end. The solution, some stabilisers. More to follow.
Stutopia
This is getting EXCITING!
leonk
Engine going in. Notice the foam over everything! Front spaceframes built up Brake lines run in and lower wishbones on More brake lines and fuel line now up to filter regulator. And while we are on fuel, this is the most expensive fuel I have ever bought! Are you sitting down....... £112 for FIVE gallons. I must be mad!!! Why is it so expensive??? It doesn't contain the ethanol that every single pump in the country now has including V Power etc. You guys are probably safe but moisture attracting ethanol will destroy classic carburettors and fuel systems. Interestingly what I didn't realise was how quickly the fuel in the pumps now containing ethanol starts to degrade in terms of octane rating. The stuff in the drum above has a three year shelf life.......better crack on then. Oh and Keyser, they do 104 Octane stuff as well... You know you want some.
Keyser
That's just awesome mate - everything looks spot on the attention to detail really shows Great to see some progress again Ref the 104 Octane stuff, I have heard about it but I'm a real man so I wouldn't use that .......... 119 Octane now that's a man's fuel and when you buy 2 x 50l drums together you get a real man's bill Keep up the good work mate
leonk
Cheers Chris, Should have known you'd go two better with the fuel!
DoogyRev
Ooooft awesome progress, best looking engine bay I have seen! it won't be long before you can burn through that fuel. So does that mean you can't ever fill up at tesco's?

If the car is going to be stood for anything longer than a couple of months, it's not really a good idea to leave normal ethanol pump fuel in it. As an avid and loyal follower of this thread, you should probably know that it's definitely going to be stood for more than a couple of months BBK was still single when this thread started, at this rate he'll be posting pics of his grandkids! Thanks to all who continue to follow.
DoogyRev
Perhaps you could just start it one a week . . . or even get some Winter tyres on it you are on the home stretch now . . . only a few more puts to bolt back on!!
leonk
A few more pics..... Ceramic coated manifolds now on, along with stainless big bore exhaust. Brake and clutch hard lines done. Now trying to get my head round the engine bay wiring to include a modern alternator and cooling fans.

Stutopia
Excuse my ignorance, but I thought the E Type had a fan shaped exhaust?

leonk
It is indeed the V12 that has the fan shaped tips. The straight six E types had twins. Made by the same company, hopefully mine should sound like this... Skip to 1m30s... Edited September 28, 2017 by leonk
DoogyRev
Well that sounds pretty crap, I think you should finish up building it then just send it to a land far far away . . I don't know . . like Canada . . west coast, I have an address if you are interested in all seriousness . . . . . . thats going to sound frickin amazing
