Gonzo88
Hi folks, Picked up my zed a few weeks ago and have been really enjoying it and its an absolute pleasure to drive. However the other morning my Father took my spare key to move the car and when he opened to car with the spare the alarm went off. Now the keys are identical however the key doesn't start the car. I'm left scratching my head wondering why the car opens but won't start with the spare. Any ideas? Thanks, Miles
KyleR
My initial thought was it's the valet key, but surely that would start the car. Does it lock/unlock the glovebox behind the passenger and does it have keyless entry buttons or just the key blade to open the car?
Gonzo88
Key doesn't open the glove box, but opens both doors. Also turns the ignition but doesn't start. I've been told the key may need coding so got it booked in. Hope that works.
WhackyWill
Sounds like the Valet Key..Have you changed the battery ..?
Gonzo88
I've not changed the battery, but I can't rule out that it wasn't changed before I got it. Nissan say it needs coding.
WhackyWill
Very possible it does, I would get the dealer you got the car from to pay for it, also pop in a new battery in it.
Gonzo88
They've already agreed to pay for it. The garage I bought it from have been quite helpful to be fair. Although from what I understand the car I bought had been standing for quite a bit.
Sly@Kaizer Motor
Key coding is only £20 from us if you are close enough to Rochester in Kent.

Thanks for the offer but it would cost me more in fuel to get there maybe next time. Thanks.
